ford 5.4 coils? computer? wiring? program? something's gotta give

My mom's old Envoy had an issue with the hood cowling seal letting water leak in to the valley of the valve cover and it would fill up the two rear spark plug bores with water. GM had a new cowl seal out, so I did that and tossed in a new set of plugs for good measure. Nary a problem since. It wasn't just a little moisture, they were literally full of water....but yes, dielectric grease is your friend.

I just can't believe it was something so stupid simple ...and makes sense cause I washed the car day after it was up and running and the next morning sure enough it started missing again...guess I should've put two and two together

Well it was too good to be true for me to get so lucky as for it to be something so simple this morning on the way to work ran like straight dog turd now it's got codes random multiple misfire, cylinder 5 misfire, TPS range low voltage and misfire detected within first thousand revs. So back to drawing board.
Where's a RPG when you need one.:sniper:

Lol, ok but why now it's got multiple misfire so what the crap...still saying do #5 ?

The original coils went bad, so you replaced them with china coils. Then you continued to have coil issues, so then you put the originals back on. Now your wondering why your having a problem with misfires?

Please buy 8 new coils and see what happens. ALL 8.

Rockauto has the denso coils for 22.79....

More Information for DENSO 6736000

Or the factory motorcraft ones for 35.79....

More Information for MOTORCRAFT DG508

you are the textbook definition of someone "dartboarding" a problem with no idea why they are doing what they are doing...."I read it on the forums that this happens to a lot of people so it must be the problem i have"

Many a mechanic has been fired for being a parts changer vs a technician.

I had misfires/sputtering acceleration with my old 2v 5.4 (2000 f250) quite a bit when it was wet out or super humid mornings. I believe water just gets down into the spark plug provisions and sorta fouls the plugs. I think we changed the coils once and the plugs once in the ~10 years I had it, which I believe helped out, but it would still occasionally do it.

Is your running like shit at all times or only mornings and/or after wet conditions?

So far put in Ford coil on #5 and running good 3 trips to work now. PO300 went away and so far holding up.
6 out of 8 coils had rust up in the top portion so cleaned everything put tons of grease and sealed the boots as well.
When I changed #5 coil it wasn't sitting in there properly apparently but still put in the new Ford one and so far so good.
Moisture was definitely the reason why it was throwing coils so often.
