5.0 F150 Reliability

Looking at a 2016 5.0 f150 Lariat, didn't know if anyone here was running one or something similar with any moans or complains. 54k miles on it, looks clean, price is right. Any insight would be much appreciated, as this would be quite a purchase in my book.
 
Those are solid. Some later 2018 up 5.0s had oil consumption issues.
 
Carry a pack of fuses for the fuel pump circuit. Our fleet trucks keep blowing them and it leaves us on the side of the road.
 
I have a 16 F150 lariat crew cab with the 5.0 and 59k miles. I love it. Bought mine almost 3 years ago with 22k miles. I daily drive it and use it to tow my 20’ car hauler with my buggy and a truck bed full of gear. I don’t have a single complaint.

My old boss man had a '16 model. 5.0. He actually LOST an oil pump when we were on our way back from Charleston. 12k mile fluke?
On another note, I'm not a Ford interior fan but it is fairly comfortable and the 5.0 Coyote is a little screamer.
 
My dad has a 2016 and he loves it, I have actually had to borrow it to pull our travel trailer with, it done excellent pulling up black mountain, he has 75,000 miles on it
 
I've got a 2020 F150 with a 5.0. I drive a lot and have had exactly 0 problems with it in 40k miles, including a 6800 mile cross country trip towing a camper.
 
My dad has a 2011 5.0 F150. I think he has about 110k miles on it. Bought it from my uncle with about 50k miles on it a few years ago. It has been reliable, but it has an unusual sound that is almost like a knock that we can't quite pin down. Fuel economy is pretty decent. Top end power is good. Bottom end power is lagging compared to the 5.4 F150 he replaced.
 
The 10-speed of the newer ones is awesome. The 5.0 F150 I had (2018 model) was damn fast! It had the oil consumption issues and took a couple trips to the dealer to get it fixed. I’d still have it if I didn’t need the towing capability of the F250.
 
My uncle had an '11 that he put 234,000 miles on. I think he did brakes, a few transmission services, one or two sets of spark plugs, and an oil pressure sending unit. That was it other than regular oil changes and such. He sold it in February of '20 after getting a leftover '19 to replace it. I still see the guy driving it all the time. Both were white, crew cab, XLT, 4x4, with 5.0s. I'm not a Ford guy at all, but they're great trucks. I like that the '19 is more firm than the '11, but both ride great.

The '11 got 18.5-ish, the '19 gets 22-ish. The 10 speed is definitely nice to have.
 
My BIL was talking about a new F250 this weekend. He hasn’t got anything heavy to tow or haul. I explained the F150s now are rated to do what older 250s used to do.

My 2002 F250 PSD was rated at 12k towing, F150s with the 3.5 are rated at that now.
 
BIL's 2013 "FX4" CC 6spd automagic (white/blacked out) is a dang nice truck, but arrived Saturday week puking coolant.
We both assumed the waterpump, given the limited sight, and grabbed a NEW one locally.
After removing the intake plenum, found it was only a $5 O-ring ($20 for the set of 4) at the "Y"... <1 beer and only used a single nutdriver & 1 screwdriver 🤣

Those upper radiator hose Y connectors are notorious for leaking. I did, however, put a water pump on my BIL's 2013 F150 at 110,000 miles. It was toast. I heard it making noise one day and popped the hood to look. He nor my sister ever noticed the noise or the coolant leak. Go figure...

That being said, they are considerably easier to work on than any 5.4 ever thought about being! I was done and filling it back up with coolant in about an hour. Spark plugs are super easy as well.

I have a friend who is a mechanic his water pump went out 5 hours from home about 30 min, from his family he was visiting. He called me to tow it home i told him to get to the next exit and change it they were pretty easy to change. He insisted it was going to be a nightmare to change. So i drove 5 hours to him and then 5 hours back and dropped it at his house that night, He called me the next day said it took him about 1 hour to change. He paid me $500.00 to come and get him. I told him educations aren't cheap and neither am I.. lol..
