I’ve been finding these random pieces of wire in my clean clothes for the past few months.

No, it’s not a pube.

First time i found one, I just brushed it off, thinking it was from a wire wheel at the shop or a wire brush or something. Kinda did the same the next couple of times. But now it’s happened probably a dozen times or more. Most commonly embedded in synthetic stuff like quick dry shirts, but also socks and jeans. I can’t think of anything I own that would have or use this as part of it, but obviously it’s coming from somewhere. Seems to only be my clothes, and not every time. Wires are about 5-10 thou thick. I don’t recall if they all have this pattern, but usually they are so embedded that they get stretched out when you pull it out of the garment. This example is about 3/4” diameter, and looks almost like a mini PTO shaft form haha.

And it’s not the wife sabotaging me because she’s out of town and I did this load of laundry

Could that be in the collar of a shirt maybe, for nice crisp seems or something?

Or, parts from the washer/dryer?

Kinda looks like the spiral of a notebook

I don't remember what it's called, but my uncle had one just like it. Same exact color and everything.

That looks exactly like the antenna coils certain agencies use in tracking devices.
I need to make a call and have them knock it off.

In all seriousness, some more info on the bits would help. Your photos show specific kidns in it, lmost looks like a pattern. How much memory does it have?
E.g. if thsi a specific shape, or could those kinks be random from getting knocked around and bunched up in the tumbling

Can you guess the material?

How long has this been going on and what new things are you doing?

Is it just your clothes, or other family?

Do you have a banana for size reference and I’m also hungry.
Definitely steel, probably stainless.

A year or so, give or take 6 months. Wasn't too noteworthy at first, so I don't know exactly.

Just mine as far as I'm aware.

No, they are all cut up and in the freezer for the kids. Also, wrong group.

Spring steel, definitely holds its shape. Not that it can't be bent, but you have to take it well beyond the elastic limit before it will deform. Like I said in the OP, most of the other pieces have been well embedded in the clothing and got deformed upon removal, but this one seemd to come out complete and unfettered.

Lets pull the thread on "only my clothes and not every time." to ensure thats not a red herring
Has there been other loads in between yours that did not have them? You mentoned wife out of town, so I'm assuming that means you're doing all the laundry.
Is there anything different about your process or how you run your clothes vs the others?

If its from the dryer falling apart it shouldn't be unique to you unless there's something weird about your settings.

The rest of my family is so oblivious that they don’t even notice a piece of wire stabbing them? I agree, doesn’t really make sense. But as far as I’m aware, no one else is affected. Wife wash clothes on the “be gentle, don’t worry about getting them clean” cycle. I set it to burn and kill and use extra soap. She probably dries them on “delicate flower”, whereas I use “fry them with great haste!” I’m guessing that could be the differentiating factor.

And I'm guesing she washes the boys clpthes, while you just give them the sniff test and shake em off and give them back?
