Random Thoughts.....

Im pretty sure my wife thinks fans and lights don’t actually count on the power bill. Yet if I leave the front door open for 11.3 seconds to go get something out of the truck real quick, I have somehow added like $20 to the power bill in her mind.
Bro…. My shop lights, all 4 led strips. Must cost us 300$ a night if I leave them on. Guess you can tell the only bill my wife pays….

My wife and kids are unaware that we actually have to pay for power.
Then you've not properly yelled "close the damn door, you're lettin all the bought air out" loud enough 🤣

I yell this all the time. I don’t understand why people in my family are still confused about this. My wife will leave the rear patio door wide open in this heat while she’s outside watering all the plants, but she’ll turn off the light in a room THAT I’M STILL IN to save power. 🤷‍♂️

I get so confused at my wife. I will be in the den adjacent to the kitchen. Kitchen lights are off. She will walk into the kitchen, turn on the overhead lights, then walk OUT of the room for an extended period of time 🤦🏿‍♂️
I'll ask..."did you just walk in here to turn ON the light and leave?" And she'll just huff and dismiss me.
If this has happened once or twice I'd never notice. But this happens on a weekly basis 🤔

She is ADD AF though so it's likely due to trying to do 4 things at once but not finishing any of them 🤣

To be fair - that 11 seconds of heat exchange probably costs more than 24 hours of led lighting.

Nerd alert (math is fun) average 4w LED bulbs - running 24 hours a day for 30 days is = 2,880 Watts hours or 2.88kWH. Average electricity in NC is 14 cents per kWH.
So a bulb burning all month long costs about 30 cents.

A 5 ton heat pump eats 30 cents of electricity (depending on sear rating etc) in about 6 minutes.

If it was just 1 light, sure. But 8 floodlights on for 6hrs a day and anywhere from 4-8 other lights on 12hrs a day, and 4 ceiling fans on 25hrs a day.

Plus all the hot air just goes straight up the stairs to the upstairs unit which is only like 1.5ton and set on 75 anyway. Feel free to math it out, but I imagine the quick trips to the truck in my undies with the door open are not what is financially ruining us. It's opening the door to get the delivery from the Fedex/UPS/Amazon driver 4 times a day every day. ;)

I'm pretty sure doorway thermodynamics isn't the expensive part of this activity.

You needing some help? You do know your first year in nc requires no inspection for tags.
Good to know for my truck and the Jeep.

I just bought the wife a car before leaving Florida and thought I’d save a double registration fee (FlL then NC) and asked them to register it in NC as I’d just established an address. So that one will need it.

So that one has to get it.

Vehicle Inspections are annoying and dumb, but on late model cars is fucking dumb.

I drive a Samurai ..... 37 years old .... I guess NC feels if youre that dumb they need you out of the gene pool.
Not even a visual after 30 years!

So I’ve been here about a month now. This past weekend I went and brought the wife up.

We took a trip to the Grocery store for a few items, and while walking around getting oriented in the store I wondered if she would notice one particular item as we walked by it. Something you can’t get in Floriduh.

Sure enough she did not disappoint with a face of

When she saw the Paper wrapped blocks of Neeses Sausage. So that’s what for breakfast!

I could use some Neeses sausage in my life right now. Wifey is out of town and I’ve already eaten all the good food in the house. Looks like I need to make a grocery run! Might even get some bacon too!

Every single week... sometimes twice.

How many years out of a cordless power drill is considered good? I got 15 years of my Dewalt 20v drill/hammer before it flat died on me the other day.

Good news is the new hotness that is brushless and uses the same batteries!
Seems pretty good. My dad has some older Dewalts from back when they still admitted they were 18v and they are still going, but since they were not that great originally, they still are not that great haha. Heck he has some Makita 9.6v drills that still work too.

Wow, it is actually possible to go outside today and not feel like shit.
I spent about 6 hrs with the weed eater yesterday and I didn't die 🤘🏿

Raging debate in our household tonight about the definition of a hole (which sprang from the question of how many holes apair of pants has - my contention being 1).
Colloqually people often refer to things as a hole just as something that has a cavity, like a hole in the ground. Personally I believe a true hole is defined by a porous opening having space on either side that is greater than the passage between (the passage being the hole). Anything else is just an indentation, crevass, ditch, cavity, etc.
e.g. your nose is a hole, the top of a water bottle is a hole, a nut is a hole (a portable and convenient one) but if I take a shovel and start digging, it isn't a hole, its a ditch... until I uncover a hollow space underground, then I've made a hole that goes somewhere.
Similarly... a pants pocket isn't a hole, unless its worn out and has, well, a hole in it (you know, for playing pocket pool)
