Traded up the ram rebel which had rear locker and auto 4wd function - for a ram 2500 6.7 laramie 4wd
I frequent a very steep twisty paved driveway on a daily basis. 4wd auto was almost necessary in wet conditions depending on the momentum/load
->Also very helpful at the boat ramp

I know I can make do for now. For sake of "preference" I wanna make some adjustments to support a "pavement suitable" 4wd capability

My initial thought is to throw a Detroit Trutrac in the front diff. At a later date I can add a selectable rear locker

What are yalls two cents?

Yup I'd True Trac the rear the apply handbrakes or drive 2 footed to force it to engage. Or get a real selectable.
But having that in the rear will buy you most of what you need, moreso than the front that will also make steering hard if there's turns on said drive

Have you tried just putting it in 4wd? I can't foresee lockers making things better on pavement, and 4wd with a rear lim-slip should get you pretty much everywhere on pavement unless there is a lot of articulation involved.

If you take your VIN and go to https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/vin-lookup.html you can see if it already has the rear limited slip. It is optional so not all of them have it. A buddy of mine has a late-model 2500 6.7 open/open.

There is a 9.25 locker (AAM Tracrite GL) for the front on ebay right now for a not bad price, and I see the 11.5 and 11.8 AAM Tracrite GT factory limited slips come up often, every once in a while for a steal ($400 or so).

This. A locker on wet pavement seems more likely to break traction and want to bind the front axle in a sharp turn.

4WD auto is for woosies :D

Having been up your driveway you don’t need any upgrades. When it’s wet put it in 4x4 and rock on.

Ah. Some im overthinking the amount of driveline bind i could experience?
Its been so long since ive been in a 4wd vehicle without a clutch tcase. Last time in a tahoe, that vehicle would buck like a bull in the ingles parking lot if the 4wd high was on instead of the auto

I prefer this link for the build sheets
Here is mine -> https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=3C6UR5FL6MG580028

It didnt state LSD rear on it anywhere.

Rear should have come from the factory with the AAM version of a Truetrac.
I say we toss one up front as well.

Having better than one rear wheel and one front wheel with power has saved my bacon a few times, parking the boat in the yard when its moist

Yup. My Ram did not have that. Power Wagon Lockers sitting here are going in sooner or later. I really just need to throw the rear in so I get the LSD and deal with all the wiring later...

Tried yesterday doing 4wdH up the driveway
Making the final 90degree turn at the 30degree angle it started to give a lot of driveline whine and buck at the end

I think my aging mind is struggling to think of the correct solution. I think someone suggested exploring 2wd Low mod
