Random Thoughts.....

The cash flow into the fed coffers is consistent, us pleebs (the 99%) pay in every paycheck and biz owners pay in every quarter. That's most of all fed tax payers. The over compensated fed employees can figure out a way to budget that.
No it isn't. Not even close.

While us pleabs pay taxes biweekly or at most monthly from our paychecks, While we're the biggest # of payers, we are less less than half of the money coming in - corporations and folks on non-salary income pay quarterly, and notoriously pay the minimum to avoid a penalty and owe the biggest chucnk of $$ in April.
Thats what causes the big bump in April.

Regardless, the chart looks the same every year.
No one is budgeting for the spikes and dips that have been seen like clockwork for decades?

It's like when I go to a fast food place at lunch and they are out of fries ....like they were surprised lunchtime came back around.

The cash flow in is consistent, with spikes and dips. Plan accordingly, right?

No it doesn't. That's why we're 38 TRILLION dollars in debt :kaioken:

And this is why they shouldn't pay. Shut down ALL non essential (food stamps, contractors, non critical research, foreign aide, ect) until the debt is paid and budget is balanced.

Note you forgot DoD, DHS, and all other "defense" related spending.

You could literally eliminate every one of those things you listed and, based on last year's budget, we would STILL be adding to the deficit. Thats not where the big piece of the pie is.

Agreed, that's not a comprehensive list by any means. I've said it here before, but our military should not leave our borders unless it's to train with allies. The military industrial complex is nothing but a leach on the taxpayers. Yes, we need to be able to defend ourselves, but the bloat in the system is ungodly. I've seen it first hand to a small extent, but it goes so much further.

If I was the unpaid tower workers in DC, I would be tempted to organize and strike or walkout until they passed the budget... Make them all have to stay in DC and not return home until they figure it out.

Had a pretty important interview this morning. I feel like it went well.

After 17.5 years I’m trying to get out of playing in deadly chemicals all day and take my talents to the natural gas transmission field. It’s down to 5 including me. 3 of the other 4 I know and they all work for the same company as me. I have 5-10 years more experience than any of them. A buddy who already works for this company told me one of the members of the selection panel told him last week prior to the interview that I was his #1 choice on paper. So hopefully I didn’t bomb the interview too badly. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but I really want this job. Better work environment, better pay, better benefits, more room for growth, and a better schedule for family life. I’ve worked a modified DuPont rotating 12hr. shift schedule for over 12 years now. I’m not getting any younger and it’s taking its toll on me physically and mentally. If you believe in prayer I’d appreciate those, and if not positive vibes are cool too!

A friend once said, never get a gun for home defense. Burglar hears the cold slide of a .45 cocking and thinks: gun. And they prepare themselves or reach for their own gun. They hear the unmistakable sound of a chainsaw revving up and they think: psycho, get me out of here

nah, better to go for the 'sneak up on them naked, erect, and one in the chamber' approach. If you're lucky they won't hear you coming

I heard on the news that some guy was stealing wheels off police cars.
The police are working tirelessly to catch him.

Lots of truth here. When i was growing up, a guy up the street built a 25' lapstrake double-ender in his backyard. He was probably 18-20 when he started it.

In researching slip-on safety side panels for prescription glasses, I came across some examples on Amazon, which of course never mention if they meet Z87.1 spec.
But what's more important is the hilarity of this image

I have zero faith they would do what is claimed in any of those examples.

another we cooked:

At autozone yesterday for a quick pickup......

stoned looking kid cashier to customer "what do you need"
customer (a 50 year old man): "some oil for my chevy hhr" (OFC all the oil is on the back wall)
cashier: "what engine"
cust "I don't know"
cashier "ok....well it takes 0w 20 or 5w 20"
cust: what is the difference?
cashier: I'm not a mechanic, I just work here
.......cashier then slowly turns to the other guy working and asks him.......he doesn't know either.....
then cashier to cust: "the lower number is when it freezes"

I walked out
