Stripped TH-400 tailhousing holes?

If you missed it here, all the bolts that hold the AA adapter to the arse end of the TH-400 pulled the threads this weekend at URE.
Wasn't on it or anything, just rolling thru a nuisance trail to another place, when the sounds started... shut it down and found everything from the adapter back hanging by the mount...

Soliciting info on "best" repair short of a Reid case (if an AMC-belled TH-400 was even an option, likely out of the budget)
- Helicoil? My "best available data" (BAD) info says helicoiled will be stronger that the originals?
- Other stake able insert? But not sure the castings would take the radial force of the stakes?
- Punch the holes out, thread 7/16", and glue in some studs?

There's helicoils, twinserts, slimserts, and keenserts.

A helicoil would require removing the least amount of material.

A twinsert is a helicoil inside of a helicoil.

A slimsert is a threaded insert that screws in and gets flared out at the top. The OD of the flared area is splined.

A keensert has 4 stakes that hold it in place.

I'd probably do a helicoil and if that ever failed, I'd go right to a keensert.

The AA adapter appears fine... the 6 bolts thru the adapter into the TH-400 case are what stripped.

After a few kind clues from several local/distant builders and racers... it appears that drilling/tapping to 7/16" right outta the gate during the build should've been in order? Meaning its typically done before 1st use as a means to negate the current state...
 
Look up timeserts. I use them all the time in situations where parts can't easily be replaced. If you drill and tap them bigger, fine thread may be a good option.
