Post up your experiences with dumbasses.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky but these days my tolerance for stupid is really low.

My truck, '22 F350 Dually, was due for an inspection yesterday. Stopped by a Jiffy Lube to get it done. Lady comes out and asks what service I needed, I replied an inspection, she looks at my truck and I immediately received a deer in the headlights look followed by some gibberish. She quickly disappears and comes back with a very intelligent looking fellow, the manager. He starts to open my door without saying a word, WTF are you doing, "I need to know how much it weighs". I replied 8900lbs, he says no way and proceeds to open the door to look at the VIN plate. "See right there it says 14k lbs so I can't inspect it because my lift is only rated to 12k lbs" and starts to walk off. I said it's a class 3 truck and that's the GVWR and not the curb weight, deer in the headlights look from him. Do you know the difference?....He just walked away as I very loudly called him a dumbass.

I drove 5min down the street to another inspection station and was in and out in 10min.

Someone was dumb enough to put him in charge. Thats the even worse dumbass, the intentionally negligent dumbass.

I mean, he kept his employer out of trouble by refusing business because he does not know. But damn, if you are going to work in the automotive maintenance and repair industry there are a few things you either need to know or learn 1st day on the job. This is one.

BoJangles in Dobson, usually very good service and food is fresh (unlike Mount Airy). I got the 2 steak biscuits for $5. Asked for mustard.

Deer in the headlights look from the girl at the window.

Mustard? She asked.

Yes.

Mustard? She asked again

Yes, mustard.

She just stands there looking at me.

I sat looking at her for several seconds.

Finally I said ā€œmustard, yellow, in a small pack, like ketchup but a different colorā€

She finally says ā€œoh yeahā€ and puts some in the bag, then apologizes.

It was a WTH moment, not sure what locked her brain up šŸ˜…

Several years ago went to the local Ace Hardware. Needed a 7/16 grade 8 bolt. Looking up and down the bolt aisle, an employee asked if I needed any help finding anything.

Told him I was looking for the grade 8's. He asked what size. I tell him 7/16.

He pointed to an area. He says all the grade 8's are in these boxes, but 1/2 inch is the biggest we carry.

Can we talk about how much the truck weighs? It is crazy how "light" the newer fords are. My f250 is only 7300 on the scale but my 2010 f350 6.4 ps, srw was 9999 unloaded.
I think your numbers are off on the 6.4. My 2008 F250 Crewcab 4x4 SRW was something like 8600lbs with a massive crossrail toolbox full of junk.

That's what I was thinking. Who puts a car on a lift for an inspection? Hell, who even pulls it in the shop?

Went to QT to fill up the truck this morning.
Only 4 diesel pumps, all blocked with gas vehicles. Ok, gas pumps were full too, I understand. But 3 of the 4 had cars with nobody at them! 2 of those 3 were Prius’s full of Amazon boxes. 1 car had a female driver in the car, so I pulled in behind her. After it became obvious she had finished filling up before I even pulled in, I got out of the truck, walked up to her window, and made it clear she needed to move.

I'll play.
Ford diesel pulling "Harley" stickered up trailer. Slow taking it easy in a couple lights before getting on interstate ramp. No problem not in a hurry. Dark thirty headed home.

Joker takes his time turning on ramp. I get it he'll get it straightened out and proceed.
No this tard never speeds up and goes to a complete stop at ramps end never having increased speed and turns on his signal to merge at a dead stop.
Folks pilled up behind, interstate humming. Worst is this ramp at Hwy 90 Statesville is a known bottle neck, short, and merges where the I-40 is on a decline with little viewing distance to the hill crest.

One peek, two peeks and floored rolling coal all over his careless choice of merging by stopping. Operator never attempted to get to highway speed.

Passing an idiot on the ramp to over take his choice of driving technique was a bit stimulating.

In NC they are "required" to put a vehicle on a lift for inspection. Virtually no one does but they are supposed to. Chain shops like that actually do though and they will never inspect a dually -- they will always say they are too heavy. It's dumb as hell but it's a liability thing.

Didn't know that. I've always just needed the safety inspection as my county doesn't do the emissions one.

That's an insurance policy topic.
Because they don't have a way to weight your truck, they assume it's loaded to full capacity in order to be on the safer side.
Was the same topic for which rollback I took when dealing with broken down vehicles on the side of the road. If you called me with a F350 I'd show up with a 20k capacity truck, even if the vehicle I was towing was empty, and I'd give you a bill for the bigger truck (lot more $).
I argued this topic with customers a lot, and while I agree that it is often stupid (an empty truck is gonna be close to marked unloaded curb weight on the tag), the policy is there to cater to all of the people working at the company and thus is written for the lowest common denominator.
I also had people call me saying their truck was empty and when I showed up they had a service box full of tools (but there was no passengers, thus it was "empty") and those days I was glad I had the big truck with me. Again, the policy is meant to cater to the lowest common denominator.

And to Jiffy Lube, your business means nothing. They want soccer mom SUVs doing $49.99 oil changes all days. That's what makes money.
