I bought a stihl 250 for the same money and it’s weak, so the 450 is probably good enough for what I need, but after going up once already, is it worth the extra $100 for the 460 is really my question. I will not buy a stihl again though it’s a nice saw, they’re too expensive for light use

Nothing to compare it to in a stihl but I’ve ran my 455 with 20” bar and have pulled a pretty healthy skip tooth chain for close to 12 years and haven’t been kind to it. 10/10 would buy again. General tree felling, limb work, farm use and abuse cutting fence poles and such. It’s been slammed in the dirt, fallen off the tractor or from heights of a ladder. Heavy enough to get done what I need but light enough to hold onto for several hours of work. YMMV

The Husqvarna 460 Rancher is a slightly more powerful version of the 455, offering a larger engine compared to the 455's. Both saws share similar weight and parts, but the 460 handles longer bars (up to 24") better and provides more torque. The 455 is generally preferred for lighter, all-day use, while the 460 is better for larger wood

Probably just a factory big bore on the 460, I doubt it weighs different or uses a different clutch. In the stihl world the number is the cc, 250 is 25cc from my understanding, the 167-250 share the small clutch and the 330-500 share clutch parts so the husky is somewhere closer to a 500 I guess

Stihl dealer called and said I need a new piston that mine is scored. $330 is what they said it would cost. I asked about aftermarket big bore kits and they said they only do factory. So what are my options here?

Piston is all on the top end, you can do it easily yourself. Pull the covers, pull the cylinder, pull the pin, pull the piston. Reverse for assembly.

How badly is yours scored? I’ve seen saws with minor scoring run ok for a long time.

Not too sure on how bad. It will run but shuts off. If I try to notch a tree it shuts off.
