Now for something really different

I’m kind of liking the idea of a crane. My intent for the truck is heavy hauling and just all around work truck. May have to do some research, I’ve seen some military trucks with those cranes on them.

Oh and @Will Carter is still a bad influence! 😂

I live close by in Snow Camp so I may be calling you too.
So definately get a crane.

Well I had to replace my fuel pump so I figured while the bed is off I’d paint the bed mount frame and touch up the frame itself. You can see the goose neck mount I came up with.

Got my truck back from the paint shop today. Decided to two tone it. The bottom color is called brilliant black. When the sun hits it you can see metallic in it. Now for a trip to the bed liner place and install the topper on the box and this portion of the build is done!

I finally have a way to get gas in this thing! For something that seemed to be a simple project kicked my ass at every turn possible. It is done but not a 100% happy with it but at least it’s functional. Now I can get back on my rear bumper/class 5 receiver hitch setup.

This a major milestone considering how long this bed topper has been kicked around my shop. Got a tonneau cover installed and the box top on finally. I think my next goal it to cut the janky assed bumper off and finish building a class V hitch and integrating it with wraparound bumper and integrating the chassis wiring with the Ram bed.

I’m planning on cutting the bumper off this week and starting on fabing up the hitch and new bumper mounts. I’ve been stuck mostly in my head on how over the top my mounts need to be to support a Class V hitch, how thick the metal needs to be etc. it’s gotten so bad I’m dreaming of building this f’ing mount instead of hot chicks and fast cars. Don’t even get me started on the wiring. Wiring is my kryptonite but I guess I’ll dream about that next! I was able to find a factory Ram wire harness that I’m going to splice into the chassis wiring. Hopefully it won’t burn down like 2WD bulbs in a 4WD.

My over engineering brain short circuited when I saw how much welding was on the bumper mounts. Three tacks is what they were expecting someone to rely on to tow behind a dually.

Bottom line is I gotta get off my whinny ass and start slicing and dicing.
