I maintain that the problem is that crappy plastic media filter, it clogs really early and if not replaced regularly the line pressure drops enough to let things start to go, first being the lockup clutch on the torque converter. I had my 2014 flushed three times; the dealership would never replace the filter. ~146k it started slipping, I changed the filter and it mostly went back to normal but the lockup clutch would never work right a low load highway speed. Tow/haul mode resolved that until I turned that truck in (company lease) at about 160k.
Yeah but GM is the one who reported it "GM itself has reported that it has received 6953 complaints" These motors are experiencing super high failure rate and the 6.6 gasser has issues too. It used to be that when a manufacturer had issues it got straightened out at least by the next model year but GM has doubled down on the motors with these issues. Crazy!
Because more power is better, right? Ford made theirs wirth more power so folks want that one. Rinse and repeat
A 5.3 is fine for something light like an FJ62. A truck needs more power than that.
Gearing is key, a 5.3 is adequate to tow with the right gearing, but that won’t go 90 up a mountain comfortably with the right gearing, it would be screaming
I'm pro capitalism but this is a great example of how it can really go off the rails when people choose shareholder value over morals

I'd love to see how it would work if these industries weren't regulated by the same government they lobby to. We have some weird bastardized version of socio-regulatory capitalism where it appears to be capitalism on the outside with the government "protecting" us, but its more like deep cronyism with both parties at the top feeding each other while taking advantage of the people they are supposed to "serve".
I don't want this convo to get garaged so I'll keep my thoughts minimal.... but I feel like the only solution is to legally abolish or at least severely curtail donations and PACs.
