What have you done to your rig today?

Replacing a leaking axle seal and some fresh gear oil.

Going tomorrow morning to VA to pick up an engine for a new build.

6V92TA, 400 hp, 2 stroke diesel. super excited to get this dream build going.

Prepping for the gtg. Welding on some res mounts, building an air bump and found a deflated shock from a leaking schreader. A metric shit ton of pipe thread sealer fixed the later.

Was gonna go out and build the new drive shaft for the yj, and possibly bring it out to the meet. Found it was out of gas, go to town. Get gas and put it in, now batteries dead. Find my jump box, fire it up and fuels pissing from a fuel line under the jeep. Gonna load the wife’s new jeep up and beat on it this weekend I guess.

Got the new to me Detroit home.

it's from a fire truck, electronic DDEC 2 400hp and it's a beast! Gonna be a while before I get the sensor harness and Starter/alternator to get it running. Today after work will be interesting to get this off my trailer with just a cherry picker.

It better be ready to pick some bigass cherries! That sucker's gotta weigh north of 2000lbs! Wanna share what it's going in or keeping your cards close on that for now?

eventually a modified F350 frame, not sure on the body yet. depends on what I come across. will be 4x4 dually 355 gears and probably 37's looking for a Spicer 6 speed but may settle for a 9 speed. 05+ D60 to handle the weight in front.

You're correct on the weight. it's about 2300 LBS, screamin Jimmy!

I have personally seen two units with those engines go to the scrap yard this year alone.

that's very unfortunate. These are American classics! And the sound is incredible

Oh yes, I can here those things in a parking lot and grin waiting to raise the cab.

Welded on the rock sliders and mounts to hold the tie down. Almost ready for the GTG.

Chased down a few leaks on the K2500, the cowl is a common place but unfortunately it appears there's a few spots in the windshield seal that are letting water in; so this weekend the visor is coming off and everything is going to get a good cleaning and sealing.

Started cleaning the H2 wheels for the crew cab, stripping the plastidip is a pain but I could see why they were coated. The chrome cladding is peeling off, so I'll probably wind up stripping and painting them before they go on the truck. Always something.

What wheels are you bringing to the g2g

I've got a set of Cooper ST Maxx tires I picked up dirt cheap a few weeks ago, 285/70R17

I figure I'll run these for a while until I swap to a dually; then these can go on my K2500. I'll probably hold on to the rims at least for a while, I had a set a few years ago I really regretted selling but couldn't beat the offer I got for them.

Put together a complete set of chromo spares for the buggy. OCD chi has been restored!

Whenever I start the annual project of "f this I'm organizing all my spares and trail tools once and for all" this is what I have envisioned in my head. 20mins into the project im throwing stuff into random old tool bags for future me to sort out on the trail.

Repeat cycle LOL
