It was on Kodak. At the top of the first ledge, just about had it cleared until it slipped to the right and flopped.
As for damage, two dented up doors, broken handles and the drip edge above the driver door needs bent back up.
i wish i had more time to post but i smell like i just played in a mcdonalds playplace filled will chopped up onions and uwharrie dust so off tot he shower i go until all the hot water is gone!
glad to see you got the xj home doug. it was great meeting up with all you guys off the pavement, hehe.
the trails were pretty quiet all day saturday.... a couple nice rigs but mostly just atv's and dirt bikes.... saturday night was dead unfortunatly, but it looked like i passed a couple full width'd jeeps as i was heading to the outpost to air up and drive back to wilmington. we did run into a guy on kodak who was waiting for an axle shaft for his 35 who talked of his cj with a 6:1 case and 44" mickey's on a 44/60 though.... at least that was entertaining for a while
dominick took care of your tow/braking bill down rocky mountain loop... he left an 18 pack at the camp site
Right on. I will have to take care of you all down there in Wilmington one night. i will have a big Bon Fire and Keg for all your assistance here at my place. I welded the arms together today and got it back on all fours. I don't trust my welds and I just wanted it back together and sitting safely in the drive way. I am going to really beef them up and wrist one. Should be good for the next run. I will flex it a lot before I go to check for weakness in them. I also need some long brake lines since mine were really stretched.
see if you can play with your hardlines enough to relocate them and allow for the added flex... you could probably gain a couple inches from rerouting them slightly.....
one thing i was kicking around... it's probably a good thing the 2nd one actually broke, and even the first one, in a way... it sounds bad BUT what if they had lasted all weekend with no obvious problems but had been stressed so much that they were developing hairline cracks/fractures and you had been on the road with the family and the front axle spun out from under the jeep as you came to a redlight.....
everything happens for a reason and thankfully it was still a good day and nobody got hurt
Just made it home about an hour ago. Did good all weekend with only minor issues that were easily trail fixable or back at camp. If everyone remembers I tried the big ledge just below Kodak rock friday night and couldn't get it. Well today I made it finally and then went back to try it again. I pulled a fullsize move and FUBARed my tir rod arm! With a little creative winching and some muscle from Jeff B I got it back straight and decided that was good for the day since I needed to get back home anyways. The maiden voyage on the XJ went great and I had a blast. It was great to meet everyone. Now I know my weak points and can't wait to do it all again. I'll try to get my pics up for everyone tomorrow.
anybody get any pics of vids of the fullsize jimmy out there...(ME)...my camera broke on the way to ure and i want some pics lol......somehow made it home alright with bent tierod and spun harmonic balancer....it was an interesting ride tho....fought the steering the hole way....i enjoyed meeting everybody...im not sure wether i had more fun wheeling or sittin around BSing around the fire......jeremy i will def be needing an application for catawba crawlers.............and somebody PLEASE find some pics of the full size
let me see if i got any of it i still have not download other cam
i try tonight. did any one get any pics of me useing the bypass lol i got one broke bearing and a cracked rear lol
I rode with him after mine broke. The guys that were with me have some. He was suppose to send them to Erik so he can post them. I really like the way his rig handles and am very thankful for his great brakes. Saved my butt that is for sure.

I only recall seeing 1 FS "Blazer" (flat black) and it was being towed downhill from Kodak by the big blue/AL buggy... appeared that his tranny took a ???
I think I saw Erik, I think (full widths, low rider w/ boggers) at the Outpost Sat morning gasin up the Jeep. We went to the camp and by the time we got back they were gone, never saw them all day after that?

if it was the wrangler (thought it was a cj tub on a yj frame, could be wrong though) it looked like he came down HARD on his tcase when trying to get over the rock right above kodak (heard it called budweiser a few times) and i'm pretty sure it sheered the bolts holding the tranny and tcase together... or at least that's what i gathered from what was being said as he pulled off......

yea we didn't hang out long at the outpost sat morning.... i had yet another fuel injector almost kick the bucket on me (4th time, 4th injector, ALWAYS happens on cold morning starts and ONLY at uwharrie) and my electric fan relay take a dump.... after replacing the fumes in my tank with fuel, swapping some relays around, and gettting lucky that the injector stopped leaking we hit daniel and then up rocky mountain loop to hit kodak again. we wheeled alllll day, who knows how we missed eachother... the park was pretty quiet it seemed....
-Erik <--- added a tent heater and eskimo cot to his christmas list after that trip
I made it home, after looking under the jeep to see if the track bar was lose again I noticed my control arm bracket weld had broke on one side... (Anyone that knows me would know I never catch that stuff in time).. I decided to call it a day and head back to camp... After a night of rain... and late morning we came home
Had a great time. thanks for the ride steve (after mine blew a radiator.) even though we did end up on our sides. looking forward to next year already.....
