Got an NC CCW? Watch out

post a link to the GS in nc or the federal law. check out Handgunlaw.us. . . . . . they have the most up to date database of the ever "liquid" changing laws about weapons and their carry/transport. at last update there was no law specific to commercial vehicles. if there is a law on this i would like to be able to read it and be informed.http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/FAQ.pdf

Great thing about VA.I go in fill out the form, show them my DD214 and wait for my CCW to come.I can also buy a handgun from someone without shelling out another $5 for a permit.

I drove and owned tracter and trailers for over 5 million miles. You cannot carry a firearm of any kind in the US legally. I have been searched MANY times, especially coming back into the US from Canada by the US Border officers. Many of my friends have been caught with weapons in trucks with permits and went to jail. I'm not saying you can't, what I am saying it's illegal. In Ca. the weapon of choice in trucks is a flare gun, can't haul you to the hospital till it goes out! Learned that one in Compton one night! Ambulances all around but couldn't transport him because of the oxegen in the ambulance! Can't trace a flare gun. Walmart.......$49.95 it is also plastic

if it is illegal it, is written in law. it is illegal to perform search and seizure, and arrest a person in this country without probable cause. that being said, if there is not a law against carrying a weapon in a commercial vehicle, yet people are getting arrested for doing it, they must have been doing something else that was a violation of the law. if you didnt have a CCW and had a gun in any area of your vehicle that made it so it was not visable to the man, that puts you in violation of the law.

this link is a very good read on this subject. it has lots of opinions as well as many links and references to the law as it is written. after a couple days research and many hours looking for the law stating it is illegal to carry in a commercial vehicle i now understand why people will post "wrong" yet fail to produce the law. there are many references to carrying a gun in a commercial vehicle but no law forbidding it. just think of it this way. . . . you have a lawn maintence business. you use your truck for this business and have your company name on the door of said truck. by law you are driving a commercial vehicle. you cant drive on the parkway or any other roads where commercial vehicles are not permitted. that makes anyone with a weighted commercial tag on their tow rig unable to carry consealed or otherwise. http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-291491.html

Can I carry at URE or not?
I have a NC permit.
As far as I know Uwharrie is NC Game Land managed by the NC WRC. They have a different set of carry laws than the regular USFS. You can read their laws from: http://www.ncwildlife.org/Regs/Regs_Hunt_Trap.htm
They are pretty picky about when you can carry. I believe you are OK to carry if you have a CCW permit ONLY when there is an open hunting season. You CANNOT carry a firearm readily accessible, even with a CCW permit, when there are no open seasons... trust me! :shaking:
I think .22 pistols are OK year round with a CCW permit, or maybe even open carry without one, but you're going to draw some attention.

From a LT at work:

Open carry of a .22 (non-magnum) is okay on gamelands (CCW or not). Other open carry calibers are okay ONLY when the open season calls for taking game with a pistol (i.e. turkey season is open in April but you cannot take a turkey with a pistol, so no open carry larger than a .22). No CCW on any NC gamelands, at any time.

as for guns in a comm truck go to fmcsa they are the ones who made it law you cant carry in a comm veh read the book its the law dont get caugt and they can search any comm veh without cause its the law sorry but its writenread the book

Found this interesting:
Under game land regulations, it is unlawful to possess a firearm or bow and arrow on a game land at any time, except:

....
* When possessed in designated camping areas for defense of persons and property

I searched their web site and couldnt find any thing. Where exactly is it written (paragraph, page, any thing to help me find it)? Not stirring the pot but if thats the law I want to read it for myself.

This is promising:

Under game land regulations, it is unlawful to possess a firearm or bow and arrow on a game land at any time, except:

When the firearm is cased or not immediately available for use

The glovebox in the TJ locks. Problem solved. Thanks!!

When I got my ticket, the officer said it was no problem for me to have it as long as I kept it in the center console locked...

I got the ticket because it wasn't locked initially. I assume you can substitute the word "locked" for "available for immediate use"...
