just gettin peoples opinion...

nc

Nc. Only been on here for about 6 days. I hate pirate, just because of the people on it, i will say that i am a member there but only to read up on information and if you read throught all the bullshit, there is some good info on it.

NC4X4.com for sure. Some good tech over on pirate, but all the BS just turns me off.
I like dealing with the local guys myself.

Being local is what I really like about NC4x4. I'm more likely to attend the Upcoming Events, more likely gonna meet someone face to face when dealing thru the classifieds, etc.
Pirate has a larger posting audience, sometimes there's good funnay in the chit-chat and pretty good tech, but I still don't spend much time on there.

NC4x4. As stated the BS is almost non-existent here compared to PBB. I also prefer the local info. PBB is huge and you have to wade through thread after thread to find something that may pertain to you. Here, everyone is willing to help you out and usually post helpful links.

NC4x4. The only thing I use Pirate for is the tech articles. I can't stand the pompus attitude of all the guys over there.

I also dislike when someone posts here and starts similar threads etc to pirate4x4.

NC4x4 isn't pirate and that's why I like it.

I don't even live here anymore, and visit here WAAAY more often.

Pirate is good for tech knowledge, but this place comes with real friends and faces.

And I'd like to point out that asking this question HERE is just a little biased.

I'm on both but it's kinda hard to compare the two. I know we don't sit down here (nc4x4) and ask how we can be like pbb. Be like comparing your 1ton tow rig to your motorcycle.

We've always asked for input on ways to make/keep users happy and offer new features etc.. Some people don't consider other sites, other than PBB. Some hate it, some hate the web all together.. So I wouldn't say someone being on anyone site really matters a whole bunch to me personally.

Pbb has a huge user base which brings the brand specific tech. And that brings the vendors, and high dollar projects etc.. But you get your advertising banners and hover click junk if your not a $20 member.. Rob's always resisted going full commercial here to keep the costs down and offer as much as possible to locals for just enough to keep the lights on.

Rather than compare them, ask your self if your contributing to either (or any site) in a way that will grow it in the direction you want it to grow.

I look at both...I will say a great number of "regular" posters on Pirate kinda fit into the douche bag catagory after meeting them in person.Of course they may think the same of me.

Im with yager, its apples to oranges to me. I visit both daily, but each has better things than the other. For friends and local stuff like wheeling and classifieds and some tech, NC4x4 rocks. For cutting edge tech, and tons of it, PBB is it.

yea i like nc4x4 better. as far as tech goes my questions haven't really been answered on pirate like i would want them to, but there is a lot of good tech if you can stand to sift through all the crap.

i like nc4x4 better to because its local and the classifieds are local. i can't stand to look on pirate and see those great deals on stufff that cost a fortune on this side of the country.

a good question is "is there a forum like pirate that caters to the east coast like they do"

nc4x4 for sure. I like it because its local and friendly(most of the time). I like that I can buy something and pick it up in 45min to 1hr. I've bought a lot of stuff on the nc4x4 and have met a lot of nice people. The open/free ride events have got me wanting to join a club and thats something I didn't want 1 year ago. I haven't went on pirate but once or twice or from a link that some here has posted. I don't have anything against them its just its not a warm place. On pirate it seems like their are a lot of people just waiting to tell you what you don't know and on nc4x4 you get help not ridicule. After all you did ask a question and thats admitting you don't know with out saying I'm a dummy.

I personally like smaller forums, Things don't move quite as fast. I used to be a Jeepforum nut, but now i barely get on there any more... i feel i have out grown the tech and my skills surpass their advice (don't re-gear your jeep, it's too hard for a normal person to do... ect). But pirate is way beyond where I'm at, and it moves extremely fast (interesting thread up for 3 hours has 5 pages of posts), and i agree with everybody else there is a lot of BS to wade through to find good information. as far as NC4x4 is concerned, not my favorite. I really feel that i don't fit in with this group (maybe if i had a yota... JK), but it is a great resource and definitely has a lot to offer. It is great that it is local as well, as stated above you will have a better chance of putting names and faces with a screen name.

I think when it comes right down to it NC4x4 wins between the two... but not my favorite.

so jake where u at in wilmington? :sniper:

Um... north side of town, why do you ask? and who told you that i had an epic beard?

You're not alone on that one. Given I just came back from being at UT the last 5 years...but dang I don't have a clue who anyone is on this site...certainly not like I do on the Ford sites I'm on. Given that's probably my fault...a little timid to go out wheeling (with the lack of fundage) and I don't post up here very often. And as I said, I'm a Ford guy and I can only think of a handful of others on this site. Regardless, it's an awesome site and I've done a lot of swapping/buying here.

Prefer NC4x4, never been a fan of Pirate, made an account over there recently but sifting through the petty arguments and bs makes it only worthy for the occasion read when its been recommended, as far as tech I tend to stick to NAXJA, Im a paying member and it costs a fortune but I have come away with alot of tech info so I suppose its worth it. Can't compete with the local perks of NC4x4, nor the for sale listings here, always helpful, but the tech is mindblowing to have on a single type of vehicle.

I check NAXJA once every few days, I check NC4x4 every day if I can get around the computer.
