Good idea or not?

Is it a good idea to drive up trees in a National Forest?

Do you really think they would shut the trails down over something so petty? Hell they logged half of dainel, Left all the pines. I guess if your wanna climb one, climb a pine.

The pines are worth more money thats why they let them grow...not sure they will appreciate you destroying their xylum and phyllum layer just to get your kicks...

REALLY REALLY MAN did you just ask that? Have you been out of the offroading sport for awhile. The tree hugging SOB's are looking for anything to stop the sport

I only climb trees in the jeep if it's currently being hugged by said treehugger.

Then it's completely legit and pretty bad ass too.
:flipoff2:

Excuse me. They logged half of Dainel, Left all the pines on the ground to rot.

they cleaned up a SPB infestation....those trees are good for nothing more than the fertilizer they will turn into at thee point they were cut...

They logged the entrance to Daniel before you hit the first ledge. Didn't seem like a clear cut.

Oh and just got in for Uwharrie had a great time and didn't have any issues, Everyone seemed to be having a great time enjoying the weather on Saturday Morning.

I climbed a tree once in my Camaro,I was racing a mustang and the back tires broke loose when I shifted.Cost me about $2700,If you do want to climb a tree try doing it at 70 MPH with the Gas pedal stuck to the floor. That will cure you of wanting to do that!!!!!

Should be common sense, Don't unnecessarily fuck up public lands. We need to be protecting our public assets not destroying them for a mallcrawling poser shot.

holy necrophilia batman

why would you climb a tree? you wont make it not even with the best spotter

Common sense goes a long ways on this one but of course Boy Scouts taught me "respect" well beyond my first trail ride. Not everyone gets the option to participate in Scouting either.
So I'll blame this one on the parents...:flipoff2: Or possibly just a bad seed?:shaking: But apparently not his fault he's a follower and not a leader?

did he tear off a ton of bark? how much damage does a tire do vs. the nails in it holding up the trail markers? Unless you're doing a burnout on the tree or flexing it and bending it, i doubt any harm will come to the tree. And in your vote, why does it have to be a bud in hand? I don't usually drink beer and wheel on trees, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

:shaking:

typically aluminum nails are used to hold up signs on trees. This in no way harms the tree. You do not drive the nail all the way in so that it allows growth of the trunck without pinching your sign off. Additionally, later on if the tree dies from some asshat gouging it with his truck, the nail does not damage the chainsaw blade or bandsaw.

I'm glad this is a public poll.

Just food for thought, trees get their water syphoned up through the bark. If you damage the bark at tire level all the way around so that the water can't get up past, then the tree is doomed. Not to mention the stresses of the truck on the roots theirselves. I'm not a tree hugger but I work around them daily. Not fun paying an Arborist to come in and fix a tree where I mislabeled a tree protection fence or such where a dozer makes a pass too close. Have you priced Arborists lately where as the owner just tells them to just bill the Engineers when they're done. :shaking:

Doing so is not helping our Sport any at all.

Example: a group of non off roaders are in the forest (I know that this might be hard to beleive but other people use the forest as well as us)
and they see a group of rigs going down a trail. and they say "gee wis walley" that looks like fun, and then some JAckoff drives up a tree. Then the beave gets pissed. and post a video up on youtube.

and then how you defend that ...You Can't

I say for the people who want to do this we set up a meet and greet at their house and drive up the trees in their front yard. this way it is on private property and since it does not damage the tree there should not be any problem. :fuck-you:
