Crozet is awesome from what I've seen on youtube, here and pirate.I don't think(could be wrong) a stock truck could enjoy the weekend without major bordom or damage.
(disclaimer: never been there I've only seen it on the internet,so please forgive me if I'm incorrect.
Is it open to the general public year round?

I myself really enjoy this place. Armor All trail is probably one of my favorite trails I have ever driven. That being said I will probably not go back until there is a price decrease in passengers or a decent yearly pass price established. All of you saying that those of us that are expressing our opinion about the price increase need to stop complaining or quit whining need to really mind their own business. What we are asking and saying about is to the owners and managers of the park not you. I have 2 kids and would love to take them wheeling with me but at 11 per person per day just to ride with you is getting a little crazy. It is approx. 45 minutes to 1 hr longer for me to go to Harlan KY from Asheville towing my rig. Those of you who honestly go to both and wheel can't say that they are very close in comparison wheeling wise. If you are going to do this kind of price change you better have awesome obstacles and plenty to do for more than a day. Why not offer up a group day to come and help as wheelers and have some assistance in marking trails, cleaning trails, and other things of the like that could be quickly accomplished with manpower. This is just my 2 cents and how I feel about it. I used to really push my friends to go there and try it out and tell them what a cool place it is and now its still a cool place to wheel by just a lil money hungry...... in a recession. Last thing is about having to pay to have some assistance to get off the trail from the owners. First of all if you are wheeling by yourself then don't do crazy stuff or your not very smart. Second I would hate to see someone on the side of the road broke down, out of gas, stuck with their heads in their hand and pull over to them and say I will be glad to help if you wanna come off of some of that money I know you have.... look at what car you drive I know you have plenty of money. What happened to helping people out of the goodness of your heart? I guess it's another way for people to make money off of Tellico closing. I miss Tellico.

Any new word about pricing? I know the deal with passengers they kept saying just wanted to get though some holiday. Have they lowered it yet? What about yearly or monthly passes? What about charging per vehicle instead of per person?
^^^^^What he said.
Any further posts were simply in response to remarks that all of us who think some reconsideration in the fee structure should take place should choose a different sport or hobby.Btw, this part of the discussion was started by someone else, I just initially echoed his question.
I didn't hijack I seconded Gubni's question and from there the "forget about the fees and deal with it or get out crowd" started posting. I only responded to those. I have not ranted I have been emphatic about a topic a lot of us are interested in. A good discussion never hurts anything and can lead to resolutions. In every post i have made, it has been with the intent of intelligent discussion granted sometimes using absurd illustrations to make a point. My position is what is good for the entire community not just family wheelers or single riders. If you or anyone can intelligently discuss why our position is so wrong I'm listening.Hey Rox. I know I let myself get roped into this discussion. Its really not that I agree or disagree with you whether or not the kids costs are too high. As stated, my kids are grown, so I really have a much smaller stake in the fees deal. My issue is, and has been, as stated before, that everytime someone posts anything about Callalantee, you go on a "fees are too high" rant. Thats what is getting old. A sort of constant hijacking of someone else's thread to post your opinions on Calla's fees. And that has no effect towards change. I believe everyone should have their opinion on the cost of wheeling, and if there is an issue, take it to the landowner. But dont keep coming on here and smearing the place every time some one sez "Callalantee".
Might I recommend your own, "Callalantee's fees are too high" thread? And let the discussion take place there. Maybe the powers in charge will look in and see what comments are being made there?
Thanks Doug for answering the question that started all this. The fee's will be looked at this winter(or so I was told.
450 dollars for a locker but 11 bucks for a day of fun for a kid is a problem?...

it must be nice way up there on your pedestal. what a bunch of assholes![]()
Pretty sure you're the only one talking about anybody being up on a pedestal or being an asshole.
right back at 'chamost people pay with a credit card and have months to pay it off![]()
it breaks down to the fact that everyone is dfifferent and manages their money different. Some people have better jobs than others.
What pisses me off are the ones that say you need to take up basket weaving or pottery. KMA, why can't I enjoy what I like to do to? I recently had a baby, my wife had to leave her job and we're now a single income home. I pay for everything and I still want to enjoy my hobby. It's almost like trail riding is the new country club. If I can't afford the lifestlye then I guess I'll go without. you do realize that "your" (used to be "our") hobby entails building a vehicle that literally rips up the earth with every tire spin? it must be nice way up there on your pedestal. what a bunch of assholes![]()
I actually agree the prices for passengers are a bit steep there, but who the hell am I (or anyone) to tell someone what they can charge for use of there land? Holy freeking liberal, socialist, bullshit batman!

I don't gather any conclusion. They made a point. They didn't call anybody any names in order to make it.
The way I see it:
The folks at Calla raised rates.
Their motives for raising rates are irrelevant. It's their place, they can charge whatever they want.
If you don't like the new rates, pick up the phone and tell them so. Tell them you won't be back until it's cheaper.
If they make enough money to keep the place open or turn whatever profit they think is fair, then fine. You just don't wheel there anymore. It sucks, but such is life.
If they don't make enough money, they shut the place down, and you don't wheel there anymore.
It's their place, they can run it however they want. If you don't like it, you don't have to go there. If it closes or makes a shit ton of money, it's all because of how they run the place, and it's none of my business.
One last note....funding a hobby on a credit card isn't good thinking either, that's the type thinking that got our country in the finacial mess it's in that the rest of the responsible people get to pick up the tab for.
