If you're using a buzzbox though, that's more than twice the input amperage--migs at <20 and a 225 stick at 50A--in which case 6/3 is pretty well suited.

Agreed that the RW is a good idea, though in the two years I've had one I've never used it connected to a mig or stick welder so I can't comment there...

Or you could just tow the rig to someones shop that will help you out. :flipoff2:

I draw 50A. About $35 for the Forney ends at Ace and $110 for the 30ft SO cable at County Electric near Home Depot in the University area in Charlotte.

6ga is what is recommended for 50A but you can get away with 8 if you are running a short distance. This SO cable is flexible and will last a good long time.
 
If you just need the welder for a weekend or no more than a week, just rent the welding leads and be done with it.

If you are gonna need something so that you can work on it periodically for the next few months, get the Ready Welder or get some lead to have. The welding lead does just fine outdoors, thats what its made for.

Without a doubt it will be. Soon as I get the funds, (Like everyone else,) I'm gonna get me one of them thar thingys.
