MY FATHER AND I ARE CURRENTLY BUILDING A YJ. IT CURRENTLY HAS A 6" SUSPENSION LIFT AND IT CAME WITH A 3" BODY LIFT. I AM NOT A FAN OF HOW BODY LIFT MAKES THE VEHICLE LOOKS. IT IS ON 35/14.50/15 PIT BULL ROCKERS ON A 15X12 WHEELS. I FEEL AS THOUGHT IT NEEDS A TOUCH MORE CLEARANCE ON THE REAR FENDERS SO I WANT TO DO A SOA SETUP LEAVING THE 6" SUSPENSION LIFT THAT IS CURRENTLY ON IT IN TACT. WHAT WOULD WE BE GETTING INTO AS FAR AS STEERING ISSUES AND DRIVE SHAFT ANGLES. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

I ran a 3 1/2" lift and spring over, and it cleared 44's
A stock spring set up, and spring over, will clear 35's easy.
If you are staying stock length, and want to do a spring over you will:
Need to probably run CV type drive shafts, also longer
defiantly need a traction bar for the rear.
Longer brake lines
Longer shocks
degree shims to help with angles(geometry will change going from under to over
I would highly recommend not using those springs with a spring over
The amount of lift will be thickness from tube to top of perch plus thickness of spring pack
Skid plate will probably need altered to accommodate the added angle of the drive shaft drop

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. I WAS READING THAT YOU WILL GET ABOUT 5-6 INCHES WITH A SPRING OVER. I AM MAINLY TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE PLENTY OF TRAVEL ROOM TO TAKE THE TRUCK TRAIL RIDING. I AM JUST NOT A FAN OF HOW THE BODY LIFT MAKES THE TRUCK LOOK.

WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST TO GET JUST A LITTE BIT MORE OUT OF THE SUSPENSION LIFT KEEPING THE SPRINGS THAT ARE CURRENTLY ON THE JEEP.

If you want to keep the current springs and ditch the body lift, swap some TJ flares on and you should have more than enough clearance for 35s

my jeep is SOA with a 2" bds lift spring and 1" body lift and i could lose a few inches and still clear my 37" iroks easily. that jeep will look tipsy if you keep a 6" lift and add 6 more inches from a SOA. good luck with the build. definitely run some tj flares. it'll open up the rear fender so much.

snapshot for you.

If you really want a little more lift and no body lift then make new leaf spring mounts to give you the additional lift. If you have a welder of course... Then make some shackles to match. food for thought..
