Well my son is 14 so time to really start his build

He said he wanted a jeep or a truck so we got him a jeep truck :)

This is his first one we got from Cutler. No motor, tranny, or interior. The plan was to build it using all the parts of the race xj. Well I sold that so we bought another one that is mostly complete.

As we started to go over it we realized it needed a new battery box, new headlights, wipers and a bunch of small things. So he and I will continue to build it over the next 2 years

First he washed it.

This is an awesome first vehicle! I had an 85 MJ 2wd, 2.5l, AX4 that I tiried to sell to a friend for his son's first vehicle...he bought him a mini instead.....

Can't wait to see the build progress, if I was a little smaller or the MJ was a little bigger, I would still have one. It was clean, but nothing special, and got attention everywhere I drove it!

WOW, all these little kids, at least that's how I remember them as, growing up, becoming drivers, becoming adults. Ken, as I imagined back then, Corbin is becoming a man, in his fathers footsteps. Can't wait to see all he does to his first ride!

Nice. Been there done that. Nothing quite like building a Jeep with your son.

Few weeks back I dropped off some rims that Corbin picked out for his jeep. Had the guy remove old clear coat and mill then and re cleared them with a clear power coat.

Well today we mounted them and put them on the jeep

Found that a gmc canyon tonneau cover fits almost perfect

Today we replaced power steering lines as they leaked. And we put a new fan shroud to protect his fingers

Corbin passed drivers ed and the required driving hrs so time to get his permit. Since his truck is almost done we also ordered him his custom plate. :)

Last week he told me he can't see out back window due to old tint. So how do you get tint off when it is 40 outside. You kick momma out of garage and you warm the back window

$9 heat gun from harbor freight will have that tint off in 5 minutes, no matter the temp
we tried that first with no luck.. the wet it, place a plastic bag on it and heat from outside worked great

Now he tells me the fuel gauge reads wrong. So I took it out and checked it all good. We after reinstall dang thing leaks so now here we go

Wow you dropped the tank. I've changed quite a few of those over the years and didn't drop the tank.
