Random Thoughts.....

There have been several fire departments built in the surrounding towns that are huge and super fancy. Crazy fancy stone work, crazy windows and the huge glass roll up doors. Then there is one in another town in the county that just built a nice, red iron station. Nothing fancy but does the job just fine.

Since tax money is paying for all this, why spend double to triple the money for the same thing? It seems like a huge waste just to make something pretty and fancy. Its not like red iron buildings are ugly. It seems like going out to dinner for your birthday with your friend, knowing they are going to buy yours and ordering the most expensive thing on the menu.

new public schools are billions over budget too

its not their money....who cares!

the general public keeps handing over more and more of it.....why stop?

bond after bond keeps passing easily

Y'all should see what they spend on trucks.
You can thank ISO and NFPA for that. Sure they can save money (about $50K) with a commercial chassis but in most cases, that commercial chassis cannot deliver 4-6 equipped, ready to go firefighters to the scene of a fire.

Does a volunteer dept need a custom cab? Maybe, maybe not. Does a full time dept need a custom cab? Yes, they do.

When I was a volunteer in the ‘80s we rode tailboard, while fun, it’s dangerous, sucks in the winter even geared up, and your life is dependent on the yahoo behind the wheel. Was happy they banned tailboard.

agreed, but...Billions?!?!

Is that hyperbole or lack of perspective
My personal experience in just the last half of this year; $50mil over on one HS in one county, $10m to $25m on 1/2 dozen elem Schools in another county. 100 counties in the state 🤷🏿‍♂️

When you are somewhere and there is line, Do you wait to be called on or motioned over or do you just walk up when you're next?
I watch what all the people in front of me do - and also gauge the demeanor of the workers. Most of the time I wait, especially if they seem at all stressed like they might want a pause or it seems there is something they do after people walk away.

I've had those jobs, it sucks when people are in a rush and don't give you a moment to breathe or realize just because the previous guy was done doesn't mean you are, you still have to click a few buttons and close out a transaction..

I generally wait until called. Then you always have the jackass behind you that wants to go around in front of you:laughing:
Zipper merge only works if everyone is on board. Otherwise you get the "Imma gits mines" and the "Double cappuccino half calf, do you know who I am" folks battling for first place

Just wondering… has anyone heard of any other country helping America? Has any other country pitched in to help western Nc? Did they help with Katrina, 9/11, wild fires? Anything? But we help everywhere else. Let’s lock the boarders and let things play their course.
If you ever want to feel nauseous, take a look at this website USAID Dollars to Results we gave 8.5 million to China. 44.6 billion just this year to 158 different countries.
