Random Thoughts.....

My take away point is no Protestant Christian Religion is more than 500 years old and all derived from Catholicism going back 2000 years.
Reminds me of the joke, where St. Peter says, “Well, the [insert denomination here] are in Room 8, and they think they’re the only ones here.”

A man walks into a library.
Tells the librarian... "I'm looking for this book. Can't remember the title or author.
But it's about Pavlov and Schrodinger."

Librarian thinks for a moments and replies,"Hm. Think I know that one. It really rings a bell, but I'm not sure if I have it or not."

I don't mind bluegrass. Not NEARLY as awful sounding as cunt tree music
Alas it's one of your few character flaws I've found.

But I am a music diversity advocate. I like Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz, HipHop, Rap, Metal...and more.

I drive past the State Tropper car yards near the faigrounds daily....they have 50-75 new tahoes waiting to get stickered up........i can't imagine the money they (the taxpayer) spends on cars/mantenance/depreciation every year

and this is just in raleigh. hundreds acorss the state being bought, upfitted, and replaced every year.
why do we need tahoes for road patrol?

$10k cheaper whatevers can't be used? $10k times 300 every year ads up!

The Troopers that drive the Tahoes are usually the ones that deal with the motor carrier enforcement. They need the extra room to carry scales and equipment.
Like a bare bones $35k F150 with a bedslide. Not an $80k soccer mom wagon.

State ain’t payin soccer mom prices for those, they aren’t that well appointed though they do have “pursuit” suspension and heavy duty drivetrain. Rest assured if Ford or Ram/Chrysler had a competitor ride, they would have those as well, Durango isn’t big enough
Having worked for a dealership in the past that has won state bid, and they buy HUNDEREDS at a time, it’s very competitive and in some cases corrupt seeming with specific language “no less than 5.4liter displacement….” Knowing full well 5.3 is the GM option in the class of vehicle they are detailing.

dealer add on hitches and trans coolers are cheaper than as built units at the time, 17” P series tries, with higher load rating were swapped out for E rating because of language in spec “ 16” radial truck tire”

this was 20 years ago, maybe it’s changed, maybe not

I'm too lazy to dig a bunch, but Sugar Grove, IL has theirs coming in at $74k:

ncsa.org has the state vehicle purchase option public...along with a lot of heavy equipment options.
None are great prices.

The total cost is $74K. The basic vehicle is $47K.

The cop equipment and installation of it is running that extra $27K. The lighting isn't cheap as they are buying Federal Signal or Whelan lights and not the cheap Chinese crap and neither is the radio equipment. Probably close to $12K for a P25 Phase 2 Motorola VIPER radio. I know our FD has to replace all it's radios to be Phase 2 compliant by July. The portables are $8K and those are Kenwood's, which are cheaper than the Motorola's. Not sure what the mobile's are cost wise but they aren't cheap.

by the hundreds? they ain't weighing that many 18 wheelers/dump trucks....or even getting the sketchy ones off the road

explorers/rangers/mavericks/s10s/expeditions/durango/new blazer/all that would handle 99% of their duties

but yea, i'm sure its more of the corruption/kickback deals that override any common sense budgeting

silly me

And in NC those same $47k vehicles are delivered to the state facilities equipment is installed by state employees, the base vehicle is far from “soccer mom luxocruiser” while still having decent seating and HVAC it’s not leather some may not even have carpet but rubber mat flooring.
The same $35k F150 would get another $10k plus in upfits as well for lighting and radios, other supplimental equipment.

Not all the equipment is delivered at once, some are fleet delivery several at a time, some, are waiting on attrition, they are wadded up on the regular, so having replacement “in stock” is the most efficient way. An order will take months…. Let alone the bid process for onesie twosies

Keep in mind, those Tahoes are not anywhere the same suspension and drivetrain as “soccer mom” rides, the cooling systems are very robust compared to normal daily driver rides. ECM mapping is different, BCM programming different. They aren’t the same vehicles.

I understand that. I bet a fleet F150 would be closer to $25k with the volumes they are talking, but who knows.

Regardless, its a waste of my tax money so that they can harass those who are properly equipped and undertagged, while letting a wagon train of "Vehicle in tow" flashing light Ford Explorers with only one set of brakes and no taillights roll on by...

sure...but the upfit and 'upgrades' would be the same...not talking about that

a 'base' Tahoe is more expensive than a base smaller/more efficient vehicle

just buying the base car.,...then yea, the upfit is another kickback issue

How much “work” do you do in your vehicle ? Not just drive, but actual paperwork, phone calls, discussions with others. If your vehicle time is limited to drive time to and from, you have no idea what it’s like to basically live in a vehicle. I spend 500miles plus a week in a Chevy Gvan with headache wall, I’m 6’4” and not a small guy. My time is peanuts compared to the time those people spend.
Troopers other police officers live in those, let alone the equipment needed (more than you’d expect or even know about) you’re not going to keep them in Mavericks, F150, and all the equipment secured driver comfortable and secure

Tell it to a teacher! (I’m just here to harass ;))

I'm not arguing this at all.

Not sure you could transport prisoners in a F150 though.

Of course you can. Use a camper shell. Or a Taurus or whatever. We lived with crown vics by the millions for decades.
.
I do stand corrected.....saw a field of blank Durangos waiting to get upfitted this afternoon. So they have hundreds of those too.

Raleigh being the capital and all, I believe all sales and distribution for the state behicles goes thru Raleigh and then are dispersed statewide, one keeps things uniform, 2, one buying entity and ship point.
The dealership I worked at summer 2003 we prepped well over 300 trucks, suburbans (all bright yellow) dozens of black or silver impalas a few black or silver cameros and a few Tahoe of various colors, rented lots to store them, took weeks to process before we could deliver to where they were distributed.
