Motor-sickle Racing (MX/SX, GNCC, MotoGP, Hard Enduro, SBK, etc)

Did you all watch the last WSX race from South Africa? The third race had some good action.

Thanks for posting that. I foolishly paid money for the FIM MotoTV subscription, and it would chrome cast, and would only play in portrait mode on my phone, so after the first race I was never motivated to watch any more. $30 down the drain but at least I can watch the races.

A1 is this weekend!

Anybody want to do RM Fantasy SX? It's free and you can win RM cash pretty easily on it. If anybody wants to, I'll create an NC4x4 group

There are a lot of old dudes in the 450 SX class now. I doubt the field has ever seen this many 'old' riders in the history of the sport.

There has never been a 450/250 smoke champion over the age of 29. Cooper Webb is currently the oldest ever champion when he won last year at 29 yrs 6 months old. Even McGrath couldn't win when he was 30 yrs old. I think the champion this year is most likely to be Sexton. If Hunter can step up his SX game and stay injury free, he could be a threat. I just couldn't put any money on the old dudes based on 50 years of history in the sport. I do think Webb could potentially do it again though and become a 4x 450 SX champion, but he would break a 50 year history in the sport.

The riders in green are still 'active' riders. Jett is obviously not currently active, but he hasn't retired.

There are a lot of cool discussion points this year.

Webb on new model Yamaha

Sexton switched teams to Kawi

Tomac switched teams to KTM

Anderson switched teams to Suzuki

It is going to be really interesting to see how they transition to their new bikes.

I would love to see Anderson come out swinging, win A1, and take several wins this year, but realistically, I don't consider him a title threat.

I think Tomac will have some bad nights that will hurt his chances at the title.

Its SX...lets see who is healthy after Daytona. But in the interest of bench racing. Lets go Tomac on that fire breathing KTM. His comment on Gypsy Tales that a stock 450 isn't enough for him is absolute madness. Sounds like KTM built him a monster.

How are Webb and McElrath in the "younger half" when they look like the oldest dudes there? Not knocking them either, they are 2 of my favorites, but...
McElrath looks like the jaded old coach for the young supercross team in this Honda poster:

And Webb has that "I used to race dirtbikes but now I do HVAC work" look for at least 3-4 years now, haha!

Well. Prado is probably the biggest surprise.

Ducati doing as good as they did also. Hopefully barcia and Malcom are ok but sounds like probably something pretty big for both of them

The way the medical crew handles these guys immediately post injury is appalling. And they show Mookie in severe pain on live TV somewhere under the stadium, but don’t even show the replay of the crash.

Anyway, some good racing tonight. I was really stoked for the 1st 450 start with Webb and Tomac up front.

It looked like Malcom drifted from right to left a little under Barcia's line. Sucks. Racing incident.

I thought Webb was going to pull one of his typical late race charges and pass Hunter and Prado to get on the podium.

Deegan from 14th to 4th.

Kitchen from last to 6th.

You and a million others. He’s a great rider, fast enough that he doesn’t have to be a douchebag to win. But being a douchebag isn’t a choice, it’s a lifestyle.
He damn sure is fast! He is fast enough that with reasonable starts he could run away with this thing winning every race.

WTF is up with Kitchen!?

Webb now 24 points down with 6th in the points.

He’s always been a bit of a head case. He and Sexton must be related.

Webb being this mad this early in the season could be a good thing. He hasn’t been one to melt like the other guys. So unless there’s something wrong with the body or the bike that’s causing him to make stupid mistakes, he will probably turn this into motivation. 24 points isn’t even a full race.

With that said, Tomac is in great form. He’s always been fast, but always lacked consistency to put it at the front, and now he seems to have it. If he maintains this form he’s untouchable. Sexton is almost never a threat through a whole season. Hunter is great at podiums but hasn’t shown the ability to deliver wins regularly. Early call, but I think it will come down to Webb and Tomac. (Mainly because that’s who I want it to come down to haha)
