Motor-sickle Racing (MX/SX, GNCC, MotoGP, Hard Enduro, SBK, etc)

Did you all watch the last WSX race from South Africa? The third race had some good action.

Thanks for posting that. I foolishly paid money for the FIM MotoTV subscription, and it would chrome cast, and would only play in portrait mode on my phone, so after the first race I was never motivated to watch any more. $30 down the drain but at least I can watch the races.

I'm ready to watch some SX.

There are a lot of old dudes in the 450 SX class now. I doubt the field has ever seen this many 'old' riders in the history of the sport.

There has never been a 450/250 smoke champion over the age of 29. Cooper Webb is currently the oldest ever champion when he won last year at 29 yrs 6 months old. Even McGrath couldn't win when he was 30 yrs old. I think the champion this year is most likely to be Sexton. If Hunter can step up his SX game and stay injury free, he could be a threat. I just couldn't put any money on the old dudes based on 50 years of history in the sport. I do think Webb could potentially do it again though and become a 4x 450 SX champion, but he would break a 50 year history in the sport.

The riders in green are still 'active' riders. Jett is obviously not currently active, but he hasn't retired.

There are a lot of cool discussion points this year.

Webb on new model Yamaha

Sexton switched teams to Kawi

Tomac switched teams to KTM

Anderson switched teams to Suzuki

It is going to be really interesting to see how they transition to their new bikes.

I would love to see Anderson come out swinging, win A1, and take several wins this year, but realistically, I don't consider him a title threat.

I think Tomac will have some bad nights that will hurt his chances at the title.

Its SX...lets see who is healthy after Daytona. But in the interest of bench racing. Lets go Tomac on that fire breathing KTM. His comment on Gypsy Tales that a stock 450 isn't enough for him is absolute madness. Sounds like KTM built him a monster.

How are Webb and McElrath in the "younger half" when they look like the oldest dudes there? Not knocking them either, they are 2 of my favorites, but...
McElrath looks like the jaded old coach for the young supercross team in this Honda poster:

And Webb has that "I used to race dirtbikes but now I do HVAC work" look for at least 3-4 years now, haha!
