02 TJ Build Up

Mike, that looks like a whole new jeep now. The cage and fenders look sweet. Once again Chris you da man, looks awesome. When your ready to try out your lockers, hit me up and ya'll bring it to the house.

Will do. That will make for a nice test before I drag it too far from home. I will let you know when its done. Still have a long way to go before it gets out. Lots more to be done.

It will make a world of difference when ya'll get the lockers in. I don't think the creek will be as stuborn this time. I can't wait to see it done. I won't be able to follow you when you come, I'll have to catch a ride with you. Got the Yota tore down, gonna swap everything over to a 4 runner. Just hit me up when you get it done. Looks bad azz!:huggy:

Will do. Hopefully the creek will be a speed bump this time. I almost made it last time. I cant wait to see the rest of the trails.

Well there has been a little more progress made. Got the rear suspension stripped. Getting ready to build the links. Got the cage pretty much finished up. Got the new tubes for the sliders finished up today. Not a whole lot of pics but here the few Ive got.

Hope you like it and let the flaming begin on the steps.

Looks great, Looks like one I designed for mine, Going a different route now but it is a good looking design. I based mine off of genrites kit.

As for the side steps, Not my cup of tea, but they seem to serve the purpose well, just be careful not to hurt yourself on them

Yeah thats what I was expecting people to say. They work for what they are intended for though which is a step more than anything. I wanted something different that I wouldnt see anywhere else. I am pretty sure I got it.

Are you going to run a factory soft top?

Just wondering on the clearance on the lower side bars in the rear. I was planning to put a bend and offset it where it hits the b-pillar due to the top hardware tucking in there. Just seeing if I could get away with a straight bar there.

The lower ones in the picture below

Also whats your plan for the sound bar or rear speakers? Just going with some in the tub?

Dont know about in the rear, but I can not run a soft top now. There is no way to reatach the door surrounds. The tubing is larger diameter that the stock spreader. As for speakers I bought some pods that mount behind the seats. When it gets done I will take some pics of that and the new dome light.

Oh yeah I have a hard top so the soft top hardware was not that big of an issue.

The problem is the factory spreaders are taper in for the door surrounds. I would not want to crush the tube to get them over it.

rly?

I have done a couple cages and they still run the soft top and door surrounds. I cant recall if they had to modify the surrounds or not, and we did use 1.75 tube.

I know my stock spreaders were already dimpled to fit the surrounds. I didnt want to dimple the new tubing to use a soft top. Plus I already have a hard top.

I beleive so. There were a few changes in 02. Mine happens to be an 02. My spreaders are 1.75 but have flats in them were the screws went through for the door surounds. If I ever decide to put a soft top on I guess I just need to find older door surrounds.

Should be some more pics tomorrow. I got the belly pan all tacked together today. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be done.

Whats your impression on the Smittybilt Fenders and corners? I like the looks but have heard bad things about other products from them. The price isnt bad at all.

They install pretty straight forward. And the powder coat finish is decent. The only complaint I have is that the factory fender flair bolt holes in the corners aren't countersunk. On this jeep I countersunk them and got the whole side smooth. I looks a lot better in my opinion. All in all if you don't mind cutting up your stock front fenders I think their a good product.
