02 TJ Build Up

Looks good !

I've been studding up on TJ cages for when I do mine. I would suggest snipping off the dash plastic where the front down tube passes through the dash. It looks like you would be unable to pull the dash out the way it is.

Some good ideas on the dash fasteners.

Yea it wont come out now. I figured a nice tight hole looked better and if he does ever need to take it out like you said he can clip the rest of the plastic out of the way.
I think with a cage like this you run into a lot of little things where you may have to sacrifice some function for a nice clean tight look.

Couple more update pics. Got the belly pan done today.

wow

wow that's bad a$$ i really like that

Not really to worried about it. It sits right inline with the outside of the tire. Actually just a hair in from the out side. If it does I will deal with it. I wanted something really different than what other people have. I think it looks good so I will deal with how it works if it becomes a problem.

Couple more update pics. Got the harness bar in, and got the 4 link done. Not really much left other than paint and a couple of gussets on the front axle. Have to make a new tag bracket and do a little wiring.

Neither can I. Chris got my front and rear lockers installed also. Just a bunch of little crap left to finish now. Hope to drive it to the meet and greet this coming friday maybe. We will see though.

Ok, the jeep is just about done. Got the cage painted, got my stock steering wheel out, and welded up the hub for the quick release wheel, and got a little wiring done. So here are a couple of update pics. Looks like I should have it at the meet and greet tomorrow night.

Let me know what you think. Big thanks to Chris for getting this much work done in such a short amount of time. The is awsome and you couldnt ask for a better guy to work with.

I love the Solar Yellow paint on the cage. Makes it look 10 times cleaner, and it was already nice.

any more details on the wheel disconnect. Will be doing similar at some point..

Looks like you just welded adapter on ? (all I was planning to do) Any issues, gotchas or tips ?

The wheel is pretty straight forward. You just remove the air bag, remove the wheel, remove the clock spring, and mount the adapter. The adapter I ordered is not the one they sent. You can use the quick release adapter for a chevy truck and its a bolt on. If you search on pirate the part number is listed on there a ton of times. Summit just sent the wrong part so we welded it and made it work because I am impatient.

So as for updates, I just have to wash it again and take more pics but as of today its done. I drove it to the meet and greet tonight and played on the rock pile at the shop a little. I completely impressed with the way it turned out. I can not say it enough..... Chris at Mars Fab does awsome work. I couldnt be happier.

When you take the airbag out the wires running out the back of it look like they plug into the center of the clock spring but they won't unplug there. The yellow plastic piece on the back of the airbag just pops out. Once you get that unplugged then you can remove the wheel and column shroud followed by the clock spring. Like mike said it's pretty straight forward you really just need to know about unplugging the bag itself. Let me know if you get into yours and have any questions.

didnt have time to read the whole thing but it looks good. Quick question though... whats your wheel base and is the gas tank and skid stil pretty close to stock location?

Wheel base as of now is only about 2" over stock. We didnt move the tank at all. I am going to stretch the front when I go to full width's next year. As of now after I get a rear draw winch in (this friday) it will be done for the year unless I break something big between now and then.

Almost every year I start on a new project and dont get it done till wheeling season is almost over and then I am out of money and cant use the new upgrades. This year I plan to wheel a bunch and see what needs to be done next winter.
