Does anybody know anything about them?
I really like the 72's, but this 74 isn't really as sporty looking as the 72's. Doesn't have that "muscle car" look at all. The reason I'm asking is this one is in my town, was for sale back in the fall, and now I'm intrested in it if the guy is still willing to sell. It's got a 250 cubic inch inline six cylinder and the Turbo 250 3-speed automatic transmission. The body is straight, but there's a lot of surface rust. Nothing I can't fix though. I would probably put a V8 and a Turbo 350 trans in along with some mag wheels and just have it as a sporty run around car and maybe something to take to the cruise-in's, roast the tires on, etc. I'm just scared that even with a new paintjob and some ralley wheels or chrome 5-spokes it still wouldn't look like that great of a car. I thought maybe I could swap out a front clip from a 72 but I don't know if it'd work or not, I'm still doing my research there. What do you guys think???

Sorry for the crappy pics, they're from a phone.

The mid-70's sucked for just about every car except the vette. (Well, the engines got anemic, but at least it still looked good)

Just my own opinion but every "muscle car" past 72 sucks.

well you would be differnt. anything before 75 is getting rare. go for it. if you dont like it when done theres someone out there that would buy it.

That's what I'm thinking... er, at least hoping. That if nothing else with it's age I could probably have fun with it for a little bit then sell it and at least break even.

It could be a bad ass muscle car. Change out the wheels and tires, grille and definately get rid of that bulky ugly ass front bumper! If you just look at the side view and cover up the tires/bumper the body looks very muscle carish. Get rid or modify both bumpers!

buy it,build it ,have some fun with it,then,if you dont like it,sell it:driver:

I use to own a 1976 Nova with a 250 in it with a Turbo 350 Trans. I loved that car. that 250 is a good eng, u can beat it to hell and back and it will still keep running, trust me on that one..... wish i still had that car.......

dunno 'bout that...I'd have to say the '70 Chevelle SS 396 I used to have access to was nothing to scoff at...
not sure what RenegadeT thinks about his, though...
man I wish I had it still. It was "only" a 350, but with the 4bbl & 4 on the floor, that thing was awesome.
Looking at the pic Ken posted, reminded me of how everyone who didnt know better used to think I drove a Nova

I think its pretty cool. Its pretty much a poor man's camaro as far as the set-up. I had a '77 with a 305 TH350. It was a midsize then but would be considererd a full size by today's standards. Wish I still had mine. Went 200K. I sold to my bro and he killed it.

i think it is cool in the fact that it is something different...i.e. not everyones "first" (or second, or third) choice for building a muscle car with.

however...
you already sound like you dont like it, and will eventually get rid of it. you're already talkin about alot of changes just to make it "appealing" or "acceptable".

my advice is to patiently wait until you find that one that really speaks to you...then dive in.

I personally like to see a post '72 Nova (done up nicely) every now and then. That kind of car breaks up the trends.

Here's my '71, though...

it's a perfect sleeper! unless you personally don't like the looks, don't change it, just build the inside. I started out w/ a '74 Nova SS, decent performance for a high schooler and it looked cool-IMO

well I found a couple very decent Nova sites, did some reading, and looked at pictures. I'm really leaning towards getting this car. turns out the 73 bumpers bolt right up and don't have the "bumper shocks" (or something like that) that make the 74's bumper stick out so far. as for the rest of it, I think some different wheels and if nothing else, some fat white letters would help it a lot. I'd probably opt for a small block but if that wasn't do-able right off, a split manifold and dual cherry bombs should make it sound mean at least. never driven an inline six. not sure if they're dogs or not.
