just wondering if anybody has had any luck with the deer this year? started off slow for me, but the last week has been great. I will post up some pics when I get them on the computer. post up if you have taken anything. thanks,

I've spent more time in the stand this yr than ever before with the worst results and I've seen more deer than ever before. Just haven't been able to put it together for one reason or another. Nothing more frustrating than having 7 deer feeding directly below you for 30mins then just spook for no apparent reason(this happened multiple times during bow). Had friends in PA and KY take a BIG 9pt and 10pt yesterday.

I've got a lot of nice trail cam pics from earlier in the season(bow season), have one that's probably a 150+" deer but only three pictures to show for, not a single pic since September of him.

Never got anything in my favor until tonight...90# doe before dressing her out. Would have liked something bigger, but I needed to get on the board and put some meat in the freezer.

I've got pictures on some land I'm allowed to hunt between Concord & Mt. Pleasant of anything from fawns to mature does and spikes to a 10pt. I've never taken a buck and my adrenaline gets pumping so bad that I pull off target, so my shot at a spike and a 6pt didn't land any meat in the freezer. Also seen turkeys, geese, a fox & a coyote (RIP). Land owner only allows bucks to be taken & only with a bow until all the coyotes are killed.
10pt.jpg Game camera took 1,500 pics over two weeks, only had 5 of this guy...haven't seen him since.
family.jpg Cell phone pic of a family about 60yrds out during bow season.

All my land is flood plain and still under about a foot of water..... I'm hoping to get something in the freezer befor this season is over. Tracks and the amount of traffic was looking promising.

yea, it has been a frustrating year till the past week. didn't get to bow hunt much, only having weekends. then every weekend it seemed to rain. I always take the 2 weeks of blackpowder off of work to hunt. the first week was hot as crap and rainy. also, got sick the first week, so only hunted half of the week. this past week has really turned on up here for me. years ago I started passing smaller bucks to let them grow. has been a few years since I have killed multiple bucks till this past week. all the stars aligned for me. hahaha

Only made it out 2x this year so far with work and other travel scheduled. I'm out of meat so the whole hunt for a wall piece thing is over like I've been doing the last few years. If its a bigger doe, shes going down. I'll probably end up hunting every weekend in December more than likely. We usually see some good deer in late muzzleloader up in VA so that's what I'm banking on. I moved my climber to a new location last time I was up during bow season and immediately started seeing deer during the first sit after being skunked the rest of the weekend, just nothing in range.

My son killed a nice 12 pointer last weekend.

Pic is blurry (blame pawpaw) 19-1/4 inside spread 208 lbs.

Only pic I have really doesnt do it justice

I love my commander for work and play I think it's the best sxs out there super comfortable

I tested one out Saturday, I'm just not sure. May just go the buggy route.

Id like to see a body shot. you really believe 208# ?

For those that know the area it was weighed at Nichols Store in Rock Hill.
When they put it on the first scale it was 211. They didnt believe it took it down and hung it on another scale and it was 208...we've told the low number.

I wasnt there. I never saw the full body of the deer, tbh.

For whatever perspective its worth the boy holding it is 6'5" +

It was a big deer. I know that. Whether its 208 or 198 or 228. It was a big deer.

don't get me wrong, that's one dang fine deer, but lets just say that I know where Im going to sell my cotton next year!!!
I shot one that weighed 178# and he had so much muscle that you could identify each major muscle group and his neck didn't look anything like that little guy in the pick. I'll find a pick and post up when I get home.

I don't see how you can see enough body to judge size. Nichols is legit. I live less than 5 mins from there. @Ron where about did your boy shoot him?

Yeah the pic isnt doing him justice then.
This isnt a small necked deer. Taxidermist mounting him has been in the business 30+ years and said its one of the 5 largest he's ever had in his shop. Actually commented on how thick his neck was to not be rut swollen.

Either way, I'm not trying to defend it. Once we get the mount back I'll take some better pics and let you compare...

Yeah I've met Rons son in person.... He ain't no little tyke for sure lol. That's a nice deer either way.

^ I tried to see how much awesome I could get in one picture on this one. too bad you cant see the v8....

I don't hunt, but due to having a boat, I got on NC Wild Life News Letter. It does have some boating info at times, but most of it is about Hunting, Fishing, & Shooting. Doesn't cost anything, "E Letter", & easy to delete!

chuckman, awesome pic with the jeep. years ago, my dad and I went hunting and I drove the cj5. I killed a pinto doe and he shot a little buck. I had taken the back seat out. so it was me and him and the 2 deer on the way home. wish I would have taken a pic.
