2015 hunting success thread

It was in pretty good shape to be this time of year, really think and it didn't have any rub spots from crossing under fences. I wasn't gonna sell it just keep for my collection

I hunt yotes and deer with 5.56 with either 55g Barnes (shoots to same zero as M193) or sometimes a 64g Power Point.

Hornady 65g whitetail .223 or a 75g bthp match if its just for yotes.

Today was the first time in 10 years I have deer hunted. I just dropped I think a 6pt, maybe more. Still in the stand trying not to ruin the rest of the evening for the other 3 that are hunting adjacent fields. Trusty ol .3030 did the job. Dropped him where he stood.
PICS!!!!

Not what I wanted. Thought it was a doe. Oh well meat is meat.

Didn't deer hunt today decided to cut wood instead... Got to grouse hunt for an hour or two with an old friend and flushed 4, only shot once but I call it a win if I see more than one bird.

Finished out my season with a twofor yesterday, nice size doe and a button head. Freezer is full so I am done.

Didn't weigh it, it was 200yds downhill through a cut over. Dressed it where it dropped(thankfully never took another step after the shot). Took Melissa and I an hr to get it to the truck working together. Failed to put a tape on it. I'm sure the taxidermist will. It wasn't the heaviest buck and it would have been nice if it had more mass but I'm not complaining. That's a dwarf compared to the one I lost in bow season in the same location 2yrs ago:shaking: :(

Some pictures of from the long weekend...

Went duck hunting on Friday with my brother & one of his coworkers on Badin Lake. Only saw 3 fly by us, but weren't close enough.

Went deer hunting on Saturday with my uncle, we saw 8-9 deer from this stand. 6 bucks (I think 1 was a repeat) & 3 does.

One of those got dropped at 107 yards, 135# 6pt taken with my .270

My betterhalf's daughter, who is 27 years old, had never hunted before this year. SO she started out with a crossbow. and continues still with a crossbow. She got her first one a week or so ago, just a spike, but she was so excited. Her husband stepped off the distance, 73 yards! I wouldn't have taken that shot, but she dropped him. drug him out, gutted and skinned it. There is a vid floating around, it's well, hilarious! but none the less, she got one, and so far, her hubby hasn't.

Got this little spike last week.

Mountain hunting sucks. I'm going to say I was successful by seeing deer. Had two ladies walk within 30 feet of my stand but you can't shoot them until Dec 12th

I spoke to a nearby landowner who said he shot a spike the day before in the same spot I was. So I may have been successful had I been there a day early :sniper:
