Growing up in the north all I see with all these wazoo tailgates is more places to trap salt and grime that = rust!

That ram split tailgate looks useful for shoving pallets in with a forklift.
I've installed many dents in tailgates with a forklift.
FYI you can remove the assist handle and sell it on eBay for $80 https://www.ebay.com/itm/232651768654
And replace it with a $40 standard tailgate panel.Compatible Aftermarket Gate Access Cover - Get All Parts
That also makes the tailgate lighter, and completely eliminates the stupid hump.
I did this to mine right before I had it Line-X'd, so it bonus points for it matching.

Now that's a damn "Pro Tip" if I ever seen one.
Need to do this on my dads truck ASAP.
Or, buy a long bedHey now... they really built that tailgate to allow you to put a 4x8 sheet of plywood in, while leaving the tailgate up. The step feature was just extra. Or atleast that is what they would likely tell you.
Does anyone else say 'Silver-ray-doe' to themselves every time they get a notification...yeah, me neither.
Just reading that was painful...Until you get out of the bed and your foot slips and your shin scrapes all the way to the ground while your other leg is still on top of the tailgate and you fall backward on to your tail bone.
Ain't got that problem with a short bedThat’s right. That damn hump for the handle can be a PITA sometimes. Like when you have a bed full of 8’ lumber and close the tailgate, that hump presses against the lumber and jambs the tailgate and it’s nearly impossible to open it up, especially with a tonneau cover. Ugh.

If you have a tonneau or camper shell, while you're at it, pony up $100 for the power tailgate lock and put it in while the panel is out. No ragrets. https://www.amazon.com/Pop-Lock-PL8250-Tailgate-tailgate/dp/B000C19DNMNow that's a damn "Pro Tip" if I ever seen one.
