The intro was dripping with testosterone.....the dude speaking annoyed me to death.
I dig it sorta. But I believe the Bronco have me more "I want"!

I really like it, but I'm a Ram guy so no big surprise there. I will say between the intro of this and the Hemi Wrangler teaser commercial there is no question that FCA is out to get Ford.

Nothing to add other than that’s what My first thought was when I saw TRX info: ‘what would Ford’s response be’? I don’t think they’ll just willingly give up market share, but a lot of their time/money/effort has gone in to turbo’d 6’s. So almost makes me think the natural move is a Shelby powered raptor...760hp and be done with it.

Kinda like those years where the RAM lettering on the tailgate was 12" high and 36" across. I see those going down the road and just :shaking:

They know their market though....highly insecure, well funded middle age white men that don't want the stigma of "I bought a corvette" but still want to rock their knee socks, New balance and polo shirt tucked into their shorts while driving a high horsepower vehicle that makes them feel superior

Or the middle age man that cant justify a Corvette because he still has kids living at home. This way he can have a fast ride that can haul the family and their 8k lb boat to the lake.

I read the specs last night.

Pluses:
  • Full-floating D60 with all-speed locker
  • 702 horsepower
  • Loads of wheel travel (13"/14")
  • Lots of skid plates
  • 35" Tires (w/room for 37")
  • Legit payload (1310#) and towing (8100#) capacities
Minuses:
  • $70k
  • No front traction aid, same aluminum center section
  • Needs a real bed

Isn't this rig also 8" wider....than an already overly wide rebel?

Not sure why full size trucks keep increasing exterior dimensions while bed and interior dimensions shrink at worst and at best stay the same.....
I bet it turns like a dump truck when you aren't blasting through sand.

I would rock one if money were no option, and I never had to park the damn thing anywhere in a city.

Ram has been a standalone truck brand for over 10 years?

Weird.

The bed is 5'7". Any bed less than 6-1/2' on a fullsize is not a real bed IMO.

Yep. I'm thinking about upgrading my truck to a newer one, but I definitely want a 6.5' bed. I was at the mulch yard this past spring getting a load in my 2500 RAM, and the guy driving the skid steer said it is nice to load it in a 'real truck'. He said the small beds suck because part of the load falls on the ground.

Haha! I didn't think middle aged white men typically buy Cadillacs. That is an OLD white man's car.

Shiiiiiiiiiid...I was king of the world driving my mid 90's Caddy Devilles in college. And yes...I did mean plural, because that damn northstar let me find out real quick why the cars were so cheap. But damn, most comfortable vehicles I've ever driven...even compared to new jags/mercedes I've driven with auto side bolsters and seat massage options.

It’s $90k with options.

It’s a race truck, not a construction site truck. Not a 16,000lb towing 3500 diesel.

It goes 100+ mph over the desert whoops.

It’s built to take market share away from the raptor. The raptor had a 100% portion of the factory built race truck market. Now Ram has a player.

Ford is putting a v8 option back in the 2021 raptor.

TRX is a $90k race truck. You can go to Lowe’s in it if you choose, or force it to tow your Buggy, but you’re buying a race truck. It’s not designed, engineered, or marketed to those needing something besides that. It’s a niche crowd that will like it.

Covid outdoor activity spending is at historic highs. Go to a sxs store, a wave runner store, a boat store, a mountain bike store- everything is sold out. Everything exciting and outdoorsy is flying off the shelves. New bronco 1st edition is $60k: sold out. People will scoop up the TRX as well.

12.9 1/4 mile. 4.9 0-60. 13” suspension travel. Electronic auto dampening shocks.

Judging by the numbers of Raptors parked at Home Depot and towing campers, I'd disagree a little... but only on this one point. There are plenty of folks that will buy it because it's the biggest/best/fanciest/most powerful/most expensive/etc.

And also be because new. So the 'look at me' crowd will buy.

2.7 million 1/2 tons sold in 2019. 25,000 were raptors (0.9%). 900,000 f150’s sold in 2019, so 2.7% were raptors.

Simple math says that Ram will sell 650,000 1/2 tons next year based on their annual growth... I’d bet roughly 1.5% or less are TRX’s (at Max) which means between 9000 and 10,000 on the road.

.9% to 1.5% is still a pretty muy poco market.

.

WTF? When did Ford remove the V8 from the Raptor? That was a dumbass move.

It’s $90k with options.

And yet it'll likely cost you over $100k

But then again, a loaded F450 will cost that as well. But you can at LEAST use it for work/tow/more than 6 bales of straw.

But really, Jay's about the only one on the whole forum that IS the target audience AND is in the tax bracket to buy one :huggy::driver:
