450 hp LS1 on 87?

Not sure, but I'll speculate oem. It's all tied in to the obd.
Gotcha. If its the oem ecu, it should pull some total timing, assuming the knock sensors are still in the chat. Personally, I'd buy that in a heartbeat and try it on 87. The cam probably does have more overlap (narrower than stock LSA) and that'll help. That would be a blast as a DD.

It's not a vette. It's a swapped volvo wagon with a gto drivetrain. I want a fun daily driver.

My point still stands.

FWIW, I generally run 93 in my Equinox. Yes, I know, an Equinox... static compression is 11.2:1, but it has VVT, so dynamic will change. It *says* you can run 87, but it is an absolute DOG. It basically pulls all the timing. Definitely better mileage and more power running 93. That said, I put some 89 non-ethanol in it this last tank and holy sheeite! I went from 23.5-24 mpg to 28.1 mpg and it runs even better. I also discovered that Go Gas has 93 non-ethanol and I filled up with that today. With price difference per gallon and better mileage, it only costs me a penny more per mile to burn the good stuff.

Anyway, an LS1 (in stock form) was designed to run just fine on 87. Stock heads on an LS1 would have been 241s. 243s have a 3cc smaller chamber, not really enough to make any difference worth talking about, they do flow better though. Just depends on the cam and tuning, really. You could always try it and see what happens. Just keep in mind, 87 with ethanol is basically the bare minimum to keep something running.
