4X4 cross URE stables

Yeah^^^what chuckman said.

Now...lets hear some stories from racers/co-drivers and spectators.

Who witnessed the un-believable...the crazy...the obsurd...the coolest..whatever.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

Lets get some racer smack talk going(friendly of course)

Who could have/ should have gone faster/slower and where and why?

I know that my xj performed better than I had hoped it would..and definately held up better than I thought. I got 3rd place in B class and it was great to know that I finished behind some pro set up trucks that were built for jumping. Not to bad i guess.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?Big woody being OK. The BDB(expectly Kevin and Chad) for making everyone feel part of something special.
Lets get some racer smack talk going(friendly of course) I made it further than Bigwoody:huggy:(Sorry Greg)
Who could have/ should have gone faster/slower and where and why?
Would have gone slower over the 3rd jump if I weren't stupid
Thanks

Is there going to be more of a barrier around the turn into the lake next year? I think it might be a good idea and probably a bit safer to.

sounds like they had too much going on in one day. i mud race and didn't make the trip cause i figured they had too much going on for one day. hats off to u guys and gals who made it happen.

First things first, THANKS to Johnny, Lorenzo, Ricky, Dylan all the guys and gals with the Big Dixie Boggers and every one that made this event happen we had a great time and can't wait until the next event. I don't know how many people showed up for the event but to have that many people there, it went very well in my opinion.

I enjoyed every bit of this past weekend. On Sat. I was initially stationed in the bleacher section up at the mud bog, I was able to look across and see somewhat the beginning of the race course, I was in front of the mud pit so had perfect view of it, and then I could turn around and catch the back stretch of the race, which was pretty sweet since it had like 3 consecutive jumps, I got to see one run off course and into the bushes/trees, another lost a tire and had the air bags deploy. So I felt that was an ok spot to be in order to see a lot of action at one time. (to my knowledge neither of the racers were hurt, the one that ran off course simply backed up and continued, and I think I heard the GC with the air bags deployed were ok as well, they just had to be cut out since the seat belts locked up on them.)

I enjoyed it. seems like 75% of the organization's attention was paid to the mud racing, but I had a fun time anyway. Met a few new people, watched some carnage, and had a couple beers :D

i think ricky and the guys at the stables deserve a hand. i know that he worked this event like a full time job for the last couple months ... so congrats for a job well done

We had a good time, thanks ricky and lorenzo:beer:
The Rodeo held up great, even tho' it was slicker than shiat after the rain when we ran, thanks to the LTB's we stay'd on course.
A few issues we had:
1)No EMS on site:shaking: that was big and needs to be addressed. There where two times when they should of responded in minutes. It's cheap ins.
2)No trophy's again,that's just B.S. :shaking:they don't cost that much.

And the course will be address'd before next race
Lorenzo thanks for the  after our run,it was :bounce:

Now whens the next race???????????

4X4 CROSS

Wanted to thank everyone involved for a fun weekend.. I just hope we start doing it more than once a year. Yes as always their are things that need to be adressed.. But overall great event..

I definitely had a good time and for the most part things seemed to go pretty smooth.

My only real concerns were that I couldn't tell where designated spectator areas were. This was my first time attending so I had no clue as to where I was or was not supposed to be. Things could have been roped off better to make it clearer. Possibly there could also have been bleachers located near the 4x4cross course in a safe location that had a good viewing point. There may have been, but I didn't see them.

Also the 4x4cross race course definitely needs some revamping saftey wise. I had just watched the vid showing the layout of the course before I went. So when I heard that Woody had flipped into the pond I was thinking I hope there are some saftey/ems personell stationed at the pond. The video flashed through my mind and I remember someone saying that the pond was 18 feet deep. That could have been tragic. Fortunately it was not.

Like I said I really enjoyed myself but these were just some of the observations I made as a newcomer. Will I be back? Definitely! As a matter of fact myself and a few buddies are already trying to acquire a vehicle to put together and enter into the 4x4cross. I would just hate to see a spectator or racer seriously injured or killed due to an oversight. Something like that would be tragic and could potentially prevent any more of these events.

I will throw in my 2 cents and maybe a bit more.

1st of all, I volunteered and worked the race from the upper field area (where the logs and big tires were for Pro guys) so my perspective is 100% from that area.

Mud racing is great but they need to have their own weekends (and they do) But "we" were the headlining event but we were the ones having to move to allow in the tractor trailers etc for the mud racing, etc.

2nd point on the mud racing / with the wireless mic / Ricky really should have just come down to the start/finish area with Lorenzo instead of two guys reporting the mud stuff. (Personally I would keep mud stuff to another weekend but at the very least having ALL of our stuff with color commentation, etc would have rocked)

Major Props to the Stables folks for a great 4x4 course / only issue is the pond is too dangerous as is / I think that is a given at this point.

Any complaints about the organization and running of the racers / must understand that by allowing folks to sign up all the way up to the end is the issue. If they had stuck to earlier deadline / MUCH easier to organize but less racers.

Start/Finish lines need to be at the same place so Lorenzo could have stayed in that location (with Ricky to give us the details, times and comments)

A 2nd person to "prep" and approve the next racer who would be queued up and ready to race within ONE minute of the finish of the prior racer. (Ie, split up some duties there / volunteers needed for that)

Perhaps some equipment to allow color commentary from areas not seen by the front (Pond, back of Dam area, etc) Think Nascar how they have different guys on the radio for diff parts of the track.

Fan seating / bit more organized in that we had some killer places to view in my area but only a few folks made it over there.

That is it really... trophies for the guys is a good idea

My final thought - I am an accountant type / we could crunch some numbers to see how this type of event "pays" to run.... Those in charge at "THE FARM", DPG, and other local land owners...may want to chat so we can organize other races during the year. (I may setup a thread on this in the General Chit Chat area)

I suspect the cash coming in could be used to beef up those properties and the "owners" have cash in their pocket. (Plus cash to buy radios / speakers / tents / etc to RUN the event)

A lot of racers', fans' and staff concerns and suggestions were talked about by the organizers after the awards on Sunday. A lot of people had some similar comments and suggestions. We took note of all of them to definitely help make the next event an even better success.

I do want to mention two things. It sure would be nice to have timing lights! HA! But Mic letting me borrow the ATV was darn helpful for my legs and back all day. And if I had my 6th vol we would have had a prep guy. I know Mic will be down for vol next year. :D at least we got the racers all done in one day! Woo!

I'm not gonna say what Jonnie will or won't do but believe me we're on it.

I'm still smiling. That was one bad ass event!

4xcross

Guys,
just wanted to say that me and the family had a great time even though our camping neighbors stayed up all night and my son decided to fall through the bleachers. I also wanted to say thanks to the guys at the stables. we came in with a torn out valve stem and they stopped what they doing to help us out. I think this year was alot better from a spectators view than last year so thanks for that. The kids on 4wheelers were a problem for us also but they were part of the mudracers crowd and after telling them and their parents that they were not supposed to be riding them this year, the parents said that no one was going to tell their kids they couldn't ride and for them to ride anywhere they wanted. I'm sure this won't be a problem next as the organizers are aware of the issue and seem to be workinmg towards improving the event every year. Thanks again for a great weekend.
Jody
