This might be a shot in the dark, but does anyone know if the front frame section is the same on a 2wd vs 4wd 80's to early 90's Dodge 3/4 ton. From what I understand the chevys are the same. I might have found a 2wd crew to swap my ext cab cummins 4wd stuff too. Bear in mind, I have not gone to look at it yet to compare frames myself.
Thanks, Michael

the frames are the same in the front from 79 thru 92.
but the body lines change..so you would need to keep the 85 body and put everything else into it.
also where the transmision crossmember mounts is a little different.

it is my build of a 85 4 door dodge, I put a 92 drivetrain into it

I remember watching your build, but I know that you started the swap with a 4wd donor vehicle. That answers my question. I just was not sure whether the 4wd stuff would swap to the 2wd frame without a bunch of fab. Otherwise I was going to lengthen the ext cab frame. Thanks for the reply

you will need to do some work.

you will need to drill out all those 2wd rivets off frame and you willneed to get 4 wd mounting hardware , etc off 4wd frame and botl it onto 2wd frame.. it will be more work then mine was, but it can be done

my rivet cutter and air hammer makes pretty quick work of factory rivets. Hopefully they won't be too much grief. Now, I just have to see if the truck is worth buying tomorrow.

Just bought it yesterday. It's in pretty good shape, but needs some work. I will be using most of the parts off of my 93, including the dash and all. I will let you know when I start on it, it will be a few weeks and I will post some pics in builds.
