Big bearing vs small. How can you tell the difference without opening it up? What is the difference? If you got a link post it up for me. Thanks

everyone ive ever messed with had thicker or bigger axle tubes and had 31 spline shafts .
any of your 78/79 ford bronco's or 78/79 f150 4x4 have them. some other models have them to if you know what your looking at.

If you get one from an early bronco only way to tell is take it apart..
these will not be full width they will have about that same wheel base as an TJ.

As for full width(out of f-150).. I agree with Broncomania.

A couple ways to tell the diff is a sb will have 3/8 studs and bb will have 1/2 studs retaining the axles. The sb will neck down right at the end of the axle tube and the bb will not neck down so much. Most of the good bb housings will have the tapered center piece, while the sb will have a more rounded pumpkin look. You can run 31 splines in the sb with a conversion bearing. The bb can run the tapered hd Timken bearings.
