90's throw back.....Manche build

So did this War Chief see some dirt???

I passed you on 109 just before you got to the Outpost. I had to get pops back he was jonesing to see his wife in the hospital and his 78 year old ass was tired from being on the trails since 9:30

You have no idea how hard it was not to turn around and follow you back just to see this thing in person, but his love for his wife and my desire to get him there back to Winston before dark to see her was a little bit greater.

But it was a pleasure just seeing it on the trailer
Hate I missed you but i definitely understand.
It was great seeing this artwork in person yesterday.
Thank you
Photos, while still pretty amazing, do not do this truck justice!
Thank you my friend, great to see you guys and the kids again, been too long.

Got it running, and tightened up enough to drag it down to the veterans ride. Only half the floor pans, slight water leak, rear locker not functioning correctly, all shifters still needing some adjustment, and couple wiring tid bits.... but enough to come down and pay respects to our veterans, and visit with many old friends and new around the campfire for a few hours. No trail riding, just cruising the parking lot.
@trailhugger is absolutely right - the photos just don't do it justice! It was nice to meet you & see this beauty in person!
Nice meeting you as well, thank you!

Awesome to hear it running!! I'm sure this is covered somewhere but what are the specs on the engine?
Pretty basic. I like it that way, easier to find parts.

06 corvette ls2, all aluminum. Stock 410 hp. 25k miles when pulled. I've owned it since 2011.

Mast motorsports harness and m90 computer, 70hp tune. Now 480hp at crank - assuming correct as advertised, have no empirical proof. But it feels good, lol.
- speed density tuning, no mass air.

Cheapo fleabay stainless turbo headers, 3" collector, 2 into 1- 3" pipe, 3" flow master type single chamber.

No other hp adders. Completely internally stock motor.

-th350, local builder, 2nd freshen (and case) since put into use in 2010. Art Carr rmvb with compression braking, winter's shifter. 24-2600 stall, lower first gear.

-atlas 3.0

- spidertrax housings, mega hi 9 front 5.43 spool, currie 9+ low pinion rear 5.40 (2 units, one with broken grizzly locker [emoji44] apparently, and other has a spool... going in today...)

- all shafts are ctm 300m with ctm joints.

Really hate I did not go to URE and stumble onto this out there. Had a group of NAXJA buddies running around up there this weekend. Looks and sounds great!

I took it to uwharrie national forest last weekend for a veterans day ride. I pulled nearly two all nighters getting it cranked and moving under its own power. It went on the trailer with half the floor boards, a ever so slight fuel drip, and water drip- of my own creation, smh- described below... I went with no intention of getting on the trail, just to visit the veterans and some old friends I hadn't seen in a few years- cuz I been ass deep in the shop...

I had last minute decided to change a fitting at the heater port of the water pump, to get more chassis clearance. After I pulled the current one, I realized I ordered the wrong fitting- soooo, when putting original fitting back in (at 4am mind you) I cracked the damn pump. Well, I wasn't going to miss my day out of the shop...so I cleaned the anodizing from the fitting, drained water and dried the pump, acetone the shit out of it, and tig welded the fitting into the cracked housing. Very slowly (1/2" at a time) so as not to screw up the other port or the thermostat. There is one slight annoying pinhole drip yet, that I'll be fixing this weekend.

Got to the event, unloaded and chatted with a dozen or so build followers and friends, letting it idle for an hour or more. Everything is good, so far. A couple seeping fittings on trans cooler line and steering cooler fittings after the heat and cooling cycle, but really a non issue. All told, a successful afternoon. Oh, except it turns out my used rear grizzly locker is defunct... only powers left tire...smh. But I have a spare drop out with a spool going in this weekend.

Still much left to do before loading for RBD @ Busted Knuckle Off Road Park, thanksgiving night...

-Change rear third

-Change rear lower spring (225/350 now), currently zero pre load at ride height. Front is great 150/150 1.5" pre load.

-finish passengers floor and dog box

-couple wiring tid bits; rear stock taillights, front turn signal led mod, wire heater fan

- wrap and insulate headers

- install skids

- channel tailgate for clearance of racing lights when closed

- bleed brakes a couple more times

Past couple days I've;

- finished interior lighting including dash indicators

- wipers installed

- Yukon hardcore hubs needed a thicker spacer to operate correctly- completed

-headlight relay mod

- fixed fuel and trans leak, still need to fix leaky Lokar dipstick at block...[emoji849]

-plumbed and installed the fire bottle suppression and interior extinguisher

Initial drive impression...

- comfy and cozy

-a bit stiff but I haven't played with the dsc adjusters yet, currently set midway on both low and high speed compression. Current shims- front 1:1 ratio; 2,2,1 comp/ 30# reb... rear .7 ratio - 3,3,2 comp/ 30# reb, 225 nitro.

- very peppy in both ranges, surprisingly so in 2wd; I was pleasantly surprised with this, but had anticipated it, coming from heavy tons on 43's in the past.

There will be more progress pics through next week and hopefully some video throughout the weekend!

Definitely pure art right there! Seriously doubt you could cross paths with another so original. Get that thing lined out so you'll have room/time to work on my S10 come march. Hopefully I'm still penciled in on your calendar.

The truck is finally- safety, mechanically, electrically, plumbing-ly 100% complete. The punch list of stuff left to do after RBD is very short, aside from anything that arises post trip. At this very moment, all I have left do to load up is finish the floors and firewall.

There are some things I still want to do of course, but upon leaving Thursday night, it will essentially be "done" for wheeling!

Bunch of random pics of tasks accomplished in the last few days...

It only takes me about 7-8 minutes to tear the front clip down to this degree, with nothing but a 1/4" impact driver and a couple torx bits. Had to tighten the steering cooler fitting and finish trimming the header panel for tire clearance, and led mod the front marker lights.

If you ever want to polish up those rusty fab skills give me a shout. I'll try to teach you a few things.

Truck is killer. Hopefully I get mine done soon and can see this thing in action.

Unbelievable quality and attention to detail Matt!

Lighting is super sexy!
Thank you my friend!

Figured out a way to attach the door bar yup the factory door, so you can pull the pin and swing them both open together?

Gonna leave the header exposed for rbd, or have ya got past your block?

I won't run the door bar when the doors are on.

All floor and firewall will be in place, plans are solid now[emoji41]

I been following since page one. Finally, I can have some closure with your build thread.

She'll never be done, it's just ready to wheel NOW! [emoji482]
