Animal Cops-like on Animal Planet TV

How would I become an "animal cop"? Do you need formal "police" style training before being accepted? I've pretty much decided that this would be a good career for me.
 
My take on it...if you want to live in the big city, fine. Most everywhere else, it's called a dogcatcher and doesn't pay worth crap.

I kinda agree...I would want to be more like an "animal rescue officer"...JUST LIKE ON TV. I want to be helping the cause, not for recognition or anything, just because I WANT to help.
 
Good luck with it. I couldn't do it I would beat the first SOB I saw treating animals like shit. But anyway my friend works for animal control and he was a city cop before but I don't know if it is required I will ask him for ya I should see him at church sunday.
 
Well if that doesnt work out Earl, your next step could be Bounty Hunter.... You will still be helping the cause :)

I took some training on it. the training was thru a volunteer group out of winston salem, nc ...I can't find a link to them, but here is where you can get trained...
