Since I can never seem to be satisfied with what I have and I like keeping busy in the garage. I have another build.

1953 Chevy 210 Coupe.
235 i6 with a automatic

Car is already a driver but needs a bunch of stuff to make it a reliable car until I decide to rip it all apart and make is a nice show car

First project was to put on some new tail lights

My dad and my son helped me in the garage today and the plan is to have all three of us continue on this project together

We took out one old one and put on a 1954 tail light. I like the looks of them better then the 53 ones.

Make it something you can keep forever, hauling a small teardrop camper to the beach, roadworthy enough for a Fla. road trip with the kids, etc. You've got a great start, and Corbin helping means he'll want to drive it someday too! Cool project Ken.

Ken, I am envious! I don't have a garage or even a shelter to work on my junk. These days, I don't have a lot of ability to do much for any period of time. But, I do have a dream, to have such a project, that I could work on at my pace, for what ever length of time I could handle working on it. So until I do, if I ever do, have such a place, I will live through guys like you. I am glad Corbin is getting in on the action!

Looks like a pretty clean '53! Good start platform! Whats your ultimate plan for it? Custom or stock?
I like the High Boys, but seems everyone bags 'em nowdays. We're doing all the suspension and sheetmetal on a customer's '54 this winter

the current plan is to fix all the little things like lights, mirrors, carb, exhaust leak, brakes and then drive the crap out of it..the long term plan is to rip it apart fix all small rust holes, paint it and drive the crap out of it :) as for suspension I am not sure yet.. I have all the bags, compressor etc just not sure if I want to slam this one

Put a new carb on and new mirrors. Next is other tail light and exhaust gasket and then take her for a spin.

Ah, the Good ol day's! Vacuum wipers & Gigantic fresh air intakes. When I was a young-en, the neighbors had several early 50s Chevy's.
And gas was .28 a gallon, leaded regular. 100 octane Ethel cost a little more!

The one project I wanted to get done today was to replace donut on exhaust between down pipe and manifold. And of course one of the dang bolts broke off so I tried to drill it out with no luck. So now I need to pull manifold off and fix this.

Final had time to get manifold off. And drill out broken bolt. Since it is out I started to wire wheel it so I can paint it and get it back together.

Like most things once you start it is all down hill. I am now gonna paint as much as possible on motor to freshen it up and also clean up engine bay. Also found I need to put in new battery tie down.

So few more days of work and hopefully it can all go back together

The '53 engine I put in my '51 Fleetline back in the day was a 235 straight six. Have you found a new one or has this one been tweaked or did you transpose some numbers as I do sometimes?
I envy your find, look forward to updates, and wish I still had mine.

You are correct it is a 235. Numbers were mixed up. I have fixed the post. Thanks
