Another speeding ticket

Ok so i got another speeding ticket. The first was 60 in a 35 in greensboro but was dropped to 44 in a 35. It was from a greensboro cop. I got a lawyer and he took care of it. Now, only 11months later, i got one in Lexington for 76 in a 55 by a State trooper. He didnt drop it at all. James Swisher is looking into everything now but i am wondering if i should go with a Lawyer from Lexington. Swisher usually deals with Greensboro but said he can do Davision County. What do you guys think.

I think you should stay with what works. On the other hand I also think you should stop speeding.

And it begins....

Why is it that every time someone posts something like this, the thread is always full of this stuff? Its ridiculous to think that anyone who replies with advice like that hasn't ever sped in their life before.

This seems to happen for EVERY thread about any ticket of any kind. The guy didnt ask for a freakin life lesson.

No offense to you twistedjeepster, but I see this every time and its just kinda annoying to me.

IMO because it's the obvious answer/solution to an ongoing problem.

I drive ~100 miles round trip to and from work on I-40. I have found that staying no more than 5 over keeps me safe. I have pushed it when running late and I just don't really see much gain in drive time by going faster. Where I catch myself going too fast is in a 55 zone.

And I would also agree that staying with the same lawyer is probably the best road to take.

I wouldn't look at it as condemnation of your sinful ways or anything... just good common sense. Traffic patrols have stepped way up in the last few months. Driving I-40 between Durham and G'boro last week looked like I-81 in Virginia. A cop at every crossover, off-ramp, and shady overpass running radar. Fawk that noise.

I drive fast, usually well in excess of the posted limit. But I'm not going to be the one to help Bev Purdue close her budget gap. I'm getting better fuel economy now, too.

First: your first ticket was dropped to 44/35... by the DA or Officer?

Second: I'd say hopefully your attorney can help.. from what I've read over on the sportbike forum you sound like you're screwed... hopefully the DA will reduce it to less than 15 over.. But from my understanding now in NC, 15 over is the cut off and they're getting much more strict than before. IE. No Improper Equipment or whatever (speedo off) for 15+mph over...

However 60 in a 35... come on now...

It's not that hard to keep the little red bar pointing at the numbers that match the numbers on the signs.

Especially 60 in a 35? That's putting lives in danger.

And no, i dont speed. Ever.

do you condone shoplifting as well? or shooting a gun within city limits?

a law is a law.

if you dont like it or dont wish to abide by it move to Germany, and drive on the autobahn.

You'll slow down when you get older and get tired of paying lawyers, I did. I won't drive a car/truck without cruise control anymore, I lack self control.

a law is a law.

What if it's a bad law? You could face investigation, criminal prosecution, and fines of up to $11k for posting in the Vendor Recommendations forum.

It's the law.

"Stop breaking the law, asshole."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

As for the whole everyone does it argument. Come on. You know the speed limit, you went past it, and now you are facing the consequences. I drive over 40k a year and use cruise set to less than 10 over at all times. If I get pulled for that, then I will deal with it. Its called personal responsibility, and it is sadly lacking in many people these days.

I have a friend who has gotten 10 tickets in 4 years. Hired a lawyer each time and the guy got him out with just fines for all of them. No points.
Last ticket he got this past month (for 83 in 65) and the judge asked his lawyer to sit down and be quiet. The judge had looked up his past cases and seen where he was getting off each time. So this time, no reduction, no prayer for judgment, no traffic school.
My friend is all pissed at the judge and talking about writing to have him disbarred, etc because he was finally held responsible for his actions. (actually, not really. His daddy paid his fines ($800+), paid his lawyer ($600+), and paid to get his car out of impound ($400+).:shaking: He's 34 by the way...

Thats a whole nuther pet peeve all together. There is NO SUCH THING as a "fast lane". the speed limit doesnt change from one side of the line to the other. there is a "slow lane" the right hand lane is for those traveling below the speed limit, and even with that there is a minimum speed limit.

if i am doing the speed limit in the left lane i am driving at the maximum speed that i am allowed.

technically, if i move over so that you can pass me i am aiding you in breaking that speed limit. which makes me an accomplice. Not that i think of it that way....just something i just thought of while typing this.

If your willing to do the time for murder does that make it okay to do the crime?

Dont speed people...how hard is that? thats all the advice you need. if you follow that advice you dont have to worry about lawyers and points, and DAs and missing work, and insurance rates going up and etc....

Well even then you're not supposed to ride in the left lane. It's called a passing lane for a reason.

Thats crazy. Those two are completely different than speeding.

I just think the OP didnt want to hear advice that he already knows about, from people Im sure aren't complete saints :shaking:

.
Go to Europe and learn how to drive....."Drive right, pass left". If you aren't passing someone get out of the left hand lane.

To answer some questions. It was the officer that lowered the first one to 9 over. And the lawyer got it changed to improper vehicle something. I didnt use Swisher for my first one. Thats why i was asking if it was a good choice. And In my defensive the second ticket was on a open highway and I was one of those time my jeep was riding really smooth Haha. I don't really want to hear if you thing speeding is right your wrong. We all have our opinions. I just want to know what the best way to get this ticket taken care of is. I cant afford to lose my license.
