I agree, higher speed does lead to greater impact forces, but speed does not cause accidents, other factors CAUSE the accident, speed just makes it much worse when it happens. I guess you could then deduce that the same accident at a lower speed wouldn't have killed the person, but an even higher speed could have avoided the accident completely (think timing), so going faster could have saved lives. Theres a whole lot of chance and circumstance.I agree w/ everything except this one little minor point... the truth is that speeding is a problem only b/c the damage done to a person's vehicle/body/others increases (often non-linearly) as speed goes up. E.g. accident at 75mph far worse than same accident at 45 mph. Thus, technically, it IS true that speed can, in fact, kill someone (as opposed to just maimed?) if all otehr factors were held constant.
