I am headed up on Saturday for a nice relaxing weekend of wheeling in the national forest. I will be Spending most of my time working on the obstacles that I have not been able to get over on Daniel and Rocky mountain loop.

It looks like it will be a nice weekend to Wheel. Weather will be good.

So who will be out there this weekend I would prefer not to wheel by my self.

"nice relaxing" will be interesting. The park will be flooded with people. Keep in mind you won't have access to the Rocky Mountain Loop at all during the day.

Really I have not heard of this. So they are closing the trails?

 Yeah it's for real. the only trail you won't be able to go onis rocky mountain loop, but I wouldn't expect a relaxing weekend either.

Hehehe, technically they can't "close" a trail. But you don't want to be on there when bigwoody comes thru. :)

look at the threads under upcoming events, and at www.americanwheeler.com

I bet there'll be a lot of pissed off people this weekend thinking they'll have a "relaxing trail ride". :D

How's that daylight feel after being under that rock all these months? :flipoff2:

Well I just called the Rangers station and the lady that answered the phone said" nope nothing going on that I know about, but let me go check."

Then some guy gets on the phone and says: "ya there is a race on rocky mount loop by .. ahh hmm ya american wheeler, but you can still ride on all the rest of the trails they will all be open."

so I say how busy do you think it will be?

he says" not to bad you should be fine, the event will only be focused on rocky mount"

that sounds like some good communication right there :)

Really good :flipoff2:

Seriously, I am going to be there, But just to watch the Giant Logistical Nightmare mayhem and carnage . I really hope they can pull this off. I feel for those other people who have no Idea what is going on there. And think they are going to have a nice relaxing weekend in the forest.

Going to bring my Video and Still cameras

and since I heard there will be some  in certain areas I am sure it will add to the atmosphere

About the same as what I was told and they also added that they were not closing Rocky Mount Loop, AW want to but was told it must stay open to all riders that pay for a pass and if anyone was told it was closed or given a hard time about it that they would put a stop to the race, it was a trial thing only if they followed the rules.

Question They don't sell beer at the outpost its a dry county correct? How are they doing a beer party? And sell Beer?

Hey, lets try another one.
Anything special going on today? Say, politically?

if we go down this route then this post will have to get moved to the Garage :)

Ya know, other than the whole sanctioning portion, it won't be that different from any other day at URE. The fast people will be stuck behind the slow people, and there will be rednecks lining the trail (on atv's w/no helmets) whereever carnage is occurring.

You had me going.

1) Correct
2) Evidently "Bud" is supplying the means
3) While it IS dry, there's likely a loophole that allows "private" (= paid admission) events & parties the option of selling spirits. Birmingham was that way, so the local restaurants scammed you for $1 "membership" to their "private club", which allowed you to have a beer on Sundays...

OR, I'm completely wrong and Montgomery Cty's finest will be writing tickets like court stenographers! :D
