Anybody still driving a Ford 6.0?

What crapped the bed?
Honestly not sure. I was at a stop sign a few miles from the house. Some asshat pissed me off by being a total slow ass and then stopping in the intersection. I hammered it and when I pushed the clutch in to go to second it just died. No start. Tow home and this morning it fired right up.

Probably mad at me for beating on a non-bulletproofed 6.0L with 310k miles.

I basically did that one time in my 6.7 and blew a turbo hose. Must be a Ford thing. :D

My 03 6.0 would blow a turbo hose with the slightest stomp. Had to go easy on her
I ragged the shit outta mine, never had an issue. Just that one time when it downshifted from 6th to about redline in 2nd and split the plastic intake toob.

Mine was the short slightly curved section of hose off of the turbo. Kick it hard and it would blow off. Tighten the shit out of it and it would still do it. The inside of the hose was always greasy and full of soot from I’m assuming still having the egr in place. No matter how much you tightened it, it would blow off when romping on it.

At this point...I'd imagine it would be pretty apparent if it's a good one or bad one. Don't think I ever heard of one becoming problematic much beyond 100k, and that was 5ish years ago.
Lifter failure is pretty common on them that have 250K or so on em.Not every truck but enuf they will tell you to change them.A failed lifter will send rollers thru the engine and AT LEAST kill the lp oil pump and front cover.Which means the cab comes off and the engine comes out.

look for 06-07. they had most of the head gasket issues and rear stuff solved by then.
Mine is an 06 and I still had to fix the EGR system, replace the IPR screen w the updated version, replace the ICP sensor and pigtail and injectors before it got to 150K.

Beginning to sound like it’s a roll of the dice. Might get a good one, might not. I guess you take that chance with any used truck. Had my eye on a gasser Chevy 3500, but it went quick. You’ve got to be sitting on go with cash in hand when they pop up.
It can be an expensive roll of the dice.Mine was perfect for the first year.Almost a year to the day I bought it the EGR cooler busted.Did the oil cooler while I was in there, then an inj, then another, then finally replaced them all,and on and on.Im not saying not to buy one Im saying they are a maintenance requiring machine.

Bought @Ron Did ac comp, injectors,
And from what I understand that basically locks down the whole engine down allowing it not to start/run.I wonder what state Ill be in when mine shits the bed.

Not opposed to a gasser at all. Been looking at 6.0 2500hd’s quite a bit. Some V10 excursions too, but I’d rather have the LS.
Whew just did a quick search on auto trader and apparently those excursions are more valuable than I thought. Makes me feel like the one here in albemarle isn’t a bad price, 03 150k miles, 2wd asking 15k I thought that was a little high until I seen the 2000 with 400k miles listed for 60k
