Anybody still driving a Ford 6.0?

How much are you looking to spend?
I’d like to keep it under $15k. Way under if possible, but in today’s market that’ll get you a 250k mile or more shit box. At least in my area it does.

The market is definitely starting to cool. Crew cabs still get a decent premium, but even those have seen a drop in value/demand. My recent sale of a 1500HD showed me that the market has slowed down. I still got what I needed out of the truck, but it took 2 weeks instead of 2 days.

Post up your wants and someone here will for sure find what you are looking for. Private party prices are dropping much faster than dealerships. If you have the cash in hand, deals are still available.

Need to sell my Rubicon TJ before I can pull the trigger on a tow rig. Just need to clean her up and list it. I’ve been lazy and hesitant about it. Hate to let it go, but I never drive it other than hunting season. I’ve had it a few years and I’ve maybe driven it 5000 miles. I always crank it up and move it around the yard every week or so, but she sits more than it should.

If you can swing it, my preference is always to buy the next vehicle, BEFORE selling the original one.

A TJ Rubicon should sell quick, getting towards the end of the peak selling season.....I would put some speed on listing it if I were you, someone will snap it up for their next beach trip.

I’ve went back and forth if I would sell my 8.1 truck or not. I just don’t know if I’d ever find a more reliable crew cab truck for what I would sell it for. I could literally tow a load to California and back with that truck and wouldn’t think twice about it, but it might be worth $5k maybe? Just doesn’t seem worth selling.

And trust me i really tried to talk myself into a 6.0 excursion..

After owing a v10 excursion for more than 8 years we have fallen in love with the platform. I will own a 6 liter excursion in the next 2-3 years. That said, the first time it cost me over a grand to fix, it'll get a cummins. I really like the thought of a cummins/5r110 excursion. Cheap, easy to work on and one of the best transmissions in the industry.

Cheap?

How much is the swap parts + the motor? And that doesn't even include labor.
From what I have seen, the swaps aren't cheap at all, but they are cool.

I'm sure you can piece it together cheaper, but nothing about the conversion looks cheap to me

Me and @Curtis_H were talking this weekend how a good truck would be an 08-10 F350/450 with a 6.7 Cummins swap. Pick it up blown up for cheap, and just drop a Cummins in it.

To be clear, I was referring to how cheap it is to work on and maintain a cummins engine. I'm not a cummins fanboy, but its hard to argue the fact that the parts for them are among the cheapest of the diesels of that age.

My long term plan is to pick up a decent 6.0 excursion for 10-12k, drive it for a few years while collecting parts for the conversion. Then I expect the conversion to cost around 10k. I know 20-22k in a 20 year old truck sounds like alot, but that money doesn't' buy much this day and age. Plus, we love the platform so at that point money almost doesn't matter. I don't know another way to have a diesel suv that can tow what the excursion can.

I know if I could go back in time I would have bought this for 4k when it sold;

And swapped a common rail in it. Kinda a dream build. Hell that bed was worth 4k even then. That console still gives me a chub.

I agree, the 08-10 Fords were the best looking years and can be had cheap since nobody will touch a 6.4. Not sure how costly the Cummins swap would be though.

Certainly not cheap, but if done as a DIY I think it can be reasonable.

Bought a lo mile (85K) 06 CC for $15K a few years.I now have about $30K in it and I didnt spend that on lift/wheels/or dumb shit.About 6K on a new long block and every time I leave I still wonder if it will come home under it's own power or on a hook.

Dang, somehow I missed that thread entirely.

Agree 100% on the looks. My 08 6.4 was a good one, I sold it at ~340k miles, and it is still rocking along with the guy I sold it to (though the cab had to come off to fix a friggin oil leak).

The best I remember your looking at about 5k just for the swap parts. That depends on what the kit has in it,Some parts could be made or sourced from other places but when I looked at it the complete kit was that much BUT Im sure its went up since I was looking at it.Asheville Engine offers a reman 6.4 w a warranty.

Beginning to sound like it’s a roll of the dice. Might get a good one, might not. I guess you take that chance with any used truck. Had my eye on a gasser Chevy 3500, but it went quick. You’ve got to be sitting on go with cash in hand when they pop up.
look for 06-07. they had most of the head gasket issues and rear stuff solved by then.
