Hey all I have a '73 VW bug that I just took the carb off and cleaned it all.. rebuilt it put it on and it will start and idle great if I hold the choke butterfly closed.. but if i let go and it gets full air it dies..

I have adjusted the screws with no luck,,

can anyone here help>??

Thanks

there is a jet on the side that you can unscrew without taking the carb apart, unscrew it and clean it out with carb cleaner, that should take care of the problem

Which carb? If it's a 34pict, then there's a good chance it's garbage. A lot of the old timers tell me that only about 1 out of 3 of these guys will take a rebuild. I believe the throttle shaft bushings wear and cause massive vacuum leaks, among other things.
