[Apr 19, 2013] 2nd Annual Down and Dirty For Life/Spring Open Invite @ The Flats (Marion, NC)

I took my stock ZJ through all kinds of trails in January. With the map as a guide, it's clear where you can go and not go. I accidentally got turned around on a mild yellow trail, and after I went just a little ways, it was obvious I was somewhere I didn't need to be haha. Stick to the green trails, and you'll be just fine, and have a blast.
 
I did laurel lane in my stock tj. It took awhile but I did it and without breaking anything

Its it April yet? I can't wait. Haven't been yet, and the Jeep is finally at a point of trailering out and beating on it.
 
Alright guys. Mapquest says only 1hr. 20min from Boone so I might be able to come out for the first time ever. I can't say I can commit completely yet because I need to figure out if I'm going to drive there from Boone or trailer the Jeep. I don't think driving is smart so gots to figure out trailer options, will let you guys know. I really want to go to real event like this for once so I'm going to try. I guess u-haul would be my best bet for a tow unless anyone got any better suggestions. Driving not much of an option being that most likely I'm going to tear something up being mostly trail jeep but gotta get it home somehow. any cheap trailer ideas from Boone to Marion?

hey bud, just wanted to say "I'm an ASS for my behavior" and am really sorry to you and the others on that thread. I somehow let my anger/can't take joke I guess get the best of me and really didn't mean to stir things up the way it happened. Please spread this to any of the other fellas that you might keep up with on here and let them know that my posts were uncalled for and very child like for me to act in such ways. I've have felt very condemned ever since Friday night and really wanted to express my apology for that. on this event matter, yes I hope to be able to find a way to come. driving isn't an option but I'm working on a way to trailer it. If I did drive it, that would really limit what I can try and not since I would have to drive back home to Boone. will keep updated on availability....

Thanks for the maps and info! I'll be there Saturday and sunday. My girlfriend brought up a good question, Is there any bathrooms on this property? IE running water, actual toilets, portajohns, or the good ol' fashion holler stump? lol justkidding, we'll head down the the taco bell if need be. Main reason I ask is for the overnight camping. Also, is fires allowed for cooking out? Maybe a propane grill? Silly questions I know but wanna be prepared :)

***UPDATED MAP***
Rock COrps had a workday this past weekend in preperation for this event. One of the things that we wanted to do, and got done, was updating the property map.
You will notice four colors.
Gray these are the way to get to the good stuff
Green these are the easiest trails and how to get around the property in a stock rig. That doesn't mean it's paved, does require 4WD
Yellow these trails are a little harder, takes some driving skill, but doable with little more agressive tires, a locer or two would be nice.
Red Carnage is possible, as is body damage, 2 lockers and a winch is advised. If not sure, take a look before you leap

awesome!!! I will post as soon as I figure out if I can go. This is the kind of place I've always dreamt of going. Nice looking place and very well detailed map.
 
Looking forward to the event... Had a question though... can anyone tell me why the sky trail is closed? just saw it last time and wondered why. Thanks Pj

Mostly connector trails or exit only trails

Be glad to
Sky trail last 30 feet or so is abut straight up. Can't cut it down, the exit is just too narrow, so we thought it best to keep people off. Just too dangerous

Nope not rivers. We don't need that, stuff like that gets trails shut down
 
I've said I was gonna make it to the flats several times and never been able to. Just rebuilt the entire front end on my TJ tonight, really looking good for this one! Hope to see you guys there!
 
Just realized the 20th is also a work day for Uwharrie. With recent trail closing I think I need to pass on this and support my local spot! I'll get to the Flats one day.
