Drove by the station and the FBI is loading up evidence. Didn't see a single cop anywhere in town.

Lol nice

Wow. Sad its came to this. I would think the FBI would have had to have been tipped off to bad behavior and not just gone in and set up the police.

This. It's just like the FBI terrorist arrests. They find an "extremist" brown skinned guy, supply him with an idea, a fake bomb, means of delivering it, means of supposedly setting it off, etc, and when he goes through with it they arrest him on terrorism charges and put on the news that they foiled a terrorist plot.

Good job FBI, you're breaking up your own terrorist and dirty cop scenarios, ruining peoples lives in the process.

Quoted straight from the article.

The investigation was launched after reports were made to the FBI about illegal activity involving Dellinger, who was a full-time Cherryville police officer at the time.
Indictments cite criminal activity from May to August of this year. But a portion of the indictment indicates that Dellinger, Hoyle and Golden were no strangers to the criminal underworld.
“Dellinger and Hoyle vouched for each other and Golden by assuring the (undercover law enforcement officer) that they have previously used law enforcement positions to protect illegal activities in and around Gaston County,” the indictment reads.

I'll admit, I didn't read your link, but the several articles that I have read made no mention of previous illegal dealings or complaints.

I would think it would be difficult to charge someone for simply agreeing to do something. If you can catch them in it, video, audio, etc & prove how corrupt they are, you can put them away longer. It's tough to say how far a person may be willing to go. If they're truly that bad, lock em up!

But reading the article, they only escorted fake trucks of stolen goods and cash that the FBI was pretending was stolen. I'm sure they are not the most upstanding citizens, but where to do you draw the line between real crime and following the ploy of the FBI?

IN the article they admitted to having done it before. This is exactly the same as trying to hire a hitman and he turns out to be an undercover cop. You had intent. Although in this case they actually escorted the trucks which means they not only had intent but carried through with it. I am sure it will be a lesser charge than if they had actually been caught escorting a drug lords shipment through town.

What you're talking about here is the very definition of "entrapment" - essentially creating a crime then busting somebody for participating in it. Normally that's what people complain about cops doing ;-).
That article does kind of suggest it, but if you read the details it's clear that the crime was going on long before the FBI setup the sting.

Why don't/can't they do this to rich, crooked politicians, say congressmen? Instead of poor smalltown lawmen??...............Oh nevermind I know why :smokin:

Agreed, but you have to ask to what extent he may have been involved in these past dealings. Were they just bragging or exaggerating about what supposedly happened before? Was it on a large scale? It's hard to imagine or believe that a huge stolen goods criminal organization is operating throughout Gaston Co with the aide of multiple police officers. I guess what I'm getting at is that I believe even if they had they been caught up in criminal activity without involvement of the FBI it'd be on a much smaller scale, as would the charges and consequences they are facing.

helping me. i was getting the run around. and now that he is gone . still nthn has been done. the trash was arresseted after being caught stealing someone elses property. but nthn has been done in my case

and to reply to some of this. i do believe with enough temptation u can turn an honest man into a theif. or something else. i think that is what they prove when they do this. show me catching them in the act of the real deal. not baited and entrapped. not taking up for any of this or thes guys actions. ive just seen alot of people turn under certain circumstances

Good point about the smaller scale comment thus what would be lesser charges.
