Well were scramblin to get everything ready for the BDB ride this weekend.

Got Kevins K5 pretty much ready to go, we swapped in a 60/70 combo locked front/rear with 4.88's, put crossover with hydro assist on it as well as tweaking the suspension some to help it flex a little bit better.

And of course the Z71 Jeep, I know you all have been absolutly dying to see what sick nastyness I have concocted to make the Jeep even more worthy of the Legendary title of Z71 but here's a few sneak peaks of it, its almost done, we'll see come friday If I get it done in time :driver:

Basically swapped in Rockwells, a 500 cubic inch motor from a caddy, did a shackle reversal on the front, full hydro, added some tube work, and got hold of some V tread Tractor Tires that measure bout 46x18"

Props to Tim (firetoy) of Vice 4WD for doin a sweet job on the sliders and tube fenders - he can bend him some tube hit him up if you want some fab work done and Your around Lake Norman. He also did the shackle reversal on the front, the pinion guards, hydro ram mount on the axle, and Driveshafts, among a few other things.

Here's a pic of my 44" tsl inflated, with a deflated Tractor tire beside it, and an inflated tractor tire on the other side of it for size comparison.

what size and kinda wheels are those things mounted on?

r u bringin the chevy back to BDB? and im suprised you arent showin off the truck as well, since you been workin on it so much...

Is that an aiming sight on the stinger? With the stinger/tow hook combo it has a real symbo-graphic look. New level nasty :)

im still trying to figure out whats flexing that beast out .. i see a chain but whats it hooked to

Dang. I'm curious to see how those tires work, but it definitely looks sweet. Do you have a problem with your spring pack fanning out? Looks like it would.

their is a gray engine lift you can see a little bit of on the very left edge to lift the tire...

what are you doing for brakes on the rocks? going to run the pinions front and rear? have you looked into the hydraulics yet or are you just going to play it by ear?

also curious why you didn't stretch the wheelbase more than you did.... looks like with 46" tires an all that height you would want it a little longer....

-Erik <--- wondering what your purpose is for the jeep when it's done

Get R Done...!!!

His WB is pretty damn long already IIRC...

well stock is 93....

the rear tires are still "under the tub" so i can't see more than 4-5" of stretch there... and the front doesn't look far from stock... i was figuring he might be around 100" max...... perhaps i'm wrong?

-Erik <---- sitting at 104" and a lower cog so i ASSumed he would have been more than that.... especially with shackel reversal and full hydro as it would be easy to do

Dear Ricky,
I have watched with half-nervous enthusiasm as you have posted your rigs over the years. You have yet to fail to surprise me. Please continue the trend. May I recommend a staple vehicle for any true redneck's garage? Two words, lifted bug.

If you need any more ideas, let me know. Im here for you buddy.

Cool to see its back together Ricky, looks different now thats for sure,

Its a cj-8 iirc, so wheelbase is going to be a bit longer than 93

It looks like 2 tubs joined above the rear wheels, Grey tub in front red/white tub welded in the rear

16x10 steelies flipped around backward to keep from being ridiculous wide

Which Chevy? Both of em are up in Raleigh, The Z71 will hopefully be towing the Jeep down but it is also not currently driving yet . . .

IDK, i just thought it would look cool, lol, thanks :burnout:

I did have a prob with the pack earlier at the Rockrace so I have some pretty stout clamps on em now, and yea I'm anxious about the Tires too.

Runnin Pinion Brakes front/Rear, already got the hydralics all mounted complements JeffB for the nifty dual ended ram, orbital valve, tilt steering column combo.

Wheelbase is about 114" if I remember right, its actually a CJ8 that was shortened so its longer than a YJ but shorter than a CJ8

Purpose? To drive it as a DD to campus almost everyday next semester, cause thats how I roll :driver:

Keep em coming you never know what redneck ingennuity I might come up with next

Damn it looks like my strap on that thing

Nah, lol thats Kevins, I still have your strap at home in Mooresville, I'll bring it to the BDB ride if your gonna be there

paint that thing

IDK, I've wanted to for a while but I can't make my mind up on how I wanna do it :shaking:

you ever driven on pinion brakes or tractor tires? or even full hydro steering? not to be a downer but i don't see that being driveable to the nearby gas station let alone to / from school...... hopefully it WILL work out but if it does it I will be VERY suprised... then again, maybe i'm just too picky about a vehicle's driveability....

that's awesome about the frame/tub... didn't see that coming...i like i like :)

Yea I might end up swappin on a diff set of tires for when I drive on the road and get a selectable hub for one side but otherwise I'll just do tha dang thang I guess  I've been drivin the Chevy on 44's almost literally as a DD for a while now since its the only thing I own thats reliable, it actually drives really dang easy thou :driver:

Yea the Frame is actually custom 2x4 box tube, and the cj8 tub was chopped completely off in the back for some reason by one of the previous owners (think i'm the 4th owner) but by the time I got it the new backhalf was already welded on which was fine with me, it kinda keeps it all in proportion.

okay, all joking aside if i ever see that thing on the road i'm calling the cops. seriously. i'm down for some borderline stuff being driven around, and i've done stupid stuff myself, but that's just straight up dangerous with pinion brakes, hydro, and your history. especially with the way traffic can get around campus.

think, man. looking cool isn't worth your or someone elses safety.

otherwise, looks good and congrats on getting it done. i hope you've got some wrap bars on there too (can't tell). what's the overall width?
