Well they are calling for big rain. I keep hearing 1000 year storm, heavy flooding, Elninio (sp)
point is, forecasters all agree, we here in WNC are gonna get mucho rain. So, what have you done to prepare.
Me?
Water check
food Check
way to cook food Check
Oil lamps, flashlights, candles, to see at night.
In case of power outage, Gen on front porch, drop cords read to power freezer, fridge, maybe a light or two, and PC, also to charge phones and portable charger for same.
Chickens fed, good for 3-4 days, watered too
dog food bucket full, good for 4 days,
Suburban gassed up, incase I have to go.

So to sit at home and watch and listen, I think I am good to go.

What different have you done? what have I left out?

I know Beer will be first answer, but I don't drink more than a few when camping, so my coffee take's it's place LOL

Gotta stop by the store on the way home and stock up on beer. We have plenty of cans of spaghetti-os to last the weekend.

Gutterrunner's soup is about to go on. Plenty of beer. Big ol butt to smoke. I put an extra tarp over my chicken coop. Made sure all my gutters, downspouts are in working order since they haven't been used all summer. I have Plenty of ammo and ski masks in case things really get crazy and I have to go "undocumented shopping." I'm not too worried about the rain as long as the wind isn't bad.

Haha, that made me think of this song:

Did some trenching & waterbars on a hill area of my driveway; hopefully the gravel Wont end up in the grass! Bought my Mega-Million & Powerball tickets. But I do that twice a week regardless!
Checked out the Mountain Island Dam, before dark; Duke says all the Hydro Stations are running to try to control flooding. Did see the water is up in the Mt.Holly area of Catawaba, but it's a narrow section, & just below the Dam. All the creeks, & small rivers like South Ford, have been Full, for the last couple days, & wont hold any more. Like "Jus Jim", I have several options of getting out, & to McDs, or others.
I did have to turn the heat on; house was down to 66F, Dang It!
O, & been getting a steady rain since about 8pm.

May not be as much as once said, but this is still one heck of a storm on top of two weeks of rain. Stay high and dry!

Looks like we're on the backside now.... Creeks n rivers still gonna rise from every thing flowing outta the mountains...

Well, I don't think we had "historic" rains but my freaking top leaked like Niagara falls. At least it was on the passenger side.

As a somewhat grim positive note, as positive as I can think right now, the market will be flooded, so to speak, with flood damage cars and car parts. Buy it while you can.

It's a jeep Jim! Get a life jacket to wear when it rains. One of mine pisses water out of the blower (2003 model) when driving in a gulley washer. Keep waiting for it to fry itself. Makes defrosting a joke blowing nice humid air out. My 03 also has the sliders on the door uppers and those uppers leak like sieves too. I get to work with a wet left elbow when it rains. There's a reason they have drain holes in the floor.
