That was theday we pulled it off trailer I got more photos of frame and it sitting on tracker frame.

I have never liked car bodies on truck frames or vw bugs this might change both I can't even imagine how cool a bug would look with an exo cage on mud tires I have a question how well does a sbc fit in a vw bug

Oh it fits....like the lt1 camaro fits the lt1.
Cage is going inside with 5 point seats cause the motor is a crate motor 327. pushing motor back to give it a center weight so i can get power to wheels.

Running rad and keg gas tank in rear to equal it out space wise.

it is going to be a freak. it will sit as tall as the red chevy in the background of the 2nd pic. yes the red truck is sitting on ground with 38 gumbos

If it fits like camaro lt1 abandon all hope immediately I have an lt1 f-body and consider crushing it every time it needs plugs wires any maintenance but that's another story.what purpose are you building it rocks, mud,dd gas sipper or emergency escape pod for a larger rig

Lmao Emergency escape pod! thats funny

It will be a mud/rock rig. gas sipper is a lil out of question.

that why the body lifts off frame for spark plug change. Ill take a pic to show you what i mean.

THATS SICK!!! Hold on loading photos.

I like the VW bug idea. There are several guys here in Newport that go muddin and rockin. Actually we are going to URE at the end of this month and we make several trips to Carolina Backwoods just outside of shalotte. I'd like to see this thing, where are you in morehead.

Im right here on 20th street in morehead city. my phone number is 252-342-0923. feel free to txt or stop by

lol air horns would be nice

OK floor of vw cut in half today and remove front and rear part of vw pan. toyota axles, tires, transmission/ (305)motor are now at the shop.

Photos tomorrow

i remember seeing that bug at tellico back in the day. cool rig for sure.

I remember watching him on lower 2 at the big rock. I was riding in Chuck from Tellico Cabin Rental's Buggy when we came up on the VW's group and I asked Chuck what the hell is that thing. It actually went pretty good.

photos of the past two days in order i hope. just mocking everything up and holding it together for right now.

Looks good. I am enjoy watching this build. If I was doing this project I would not make it as tall as you have it, probably 3" less, but I also would not be trying to make it into a fully function rock crawler like you are either. i look forward to the finish product. What are you going to do with the rear since the engine is going to be up front?

gas tank and rad are going in back. the axles are fully locked with 430 gears and warn hubs upfront. 85 yota closed knuckel up front and 88 yota rear with detroit locker. tires that it is rolling on are 35s i will be going to 37s.

Im gonna put motor as low as a i can it in frame to give me a low center gravity. it will be used in mud and rocks.

end weight should be about 2300-2500. with 200+ hp pushing it. should be scary fun :)

all of vw stuff has been sold. motor and front end are gone.

I will part with the new seats and all for racing seats with bases.

ok guys i need input here.

A few ppl here are trying to get me to use schedual 80 pipe for my control arms.
will it hold up to mud running and rocks/drving on hwy.

Dom is better but where can i find it cheap cause im looking at 30ft of pipe for bottom of bug.

IF schedual 80 will hold up i got tons of it laying around
