Hey all,

Here is my quick recap from Camp Jeep 2007.

I 1st went to Camp Jeep 2000 as a Owner which was a blast, I learned a lot met a lot of
nice people, road some trails, talked to engineers, etc.. all in all it was great..

Then this year I got to go as a Trail Guide for Camp Jeep 2007.. and man that was even
better.. not only did I get to do all the same things as above but I got to lead new
folks on trail rides, help them threw obsticles, explain how to drive there 4x4 better in
certain situations, etc..

If you ever get a chance to go and of course own a Jeep it is a great place to bring the
family for a nice weekend vacation.. plus it is only 3.5 hrs away.

So here is my short story from the week..

John Herr and myself left Tuesday after work and drove to Oak Ridge Estate.. we found our
camp site and set up camp..

Wednesday Am we went to Trail guide sign up location.. learned what to do and what Not to do
when on trails. Then we headed out to our designated trail we would be working on for the
weekend. after we rode and learned our trail we all came back and chatted hung out and
relaxed.. as Camp Jeep does not start until Thursday AM.

So thursday we had a 10am ride to guide, so we got up headed to camp and checked in. but
when I got there I learned they made a small mistake and had me double booked with the
same time slot as another person, so I got bumper to be a floater which worked out better
for me in the long run..

As a floater I ended up running trails, H, E, B, and A. ( A-G were the harder ones)
So I got to see some of the trail system and I will say if you like Uwharrie and want a
different trail look then you should try to attend the V4WDA Annual ride they have in
Sept..

The trails were a lot of fun.. you get to trail ride like at uwharrie and then when you
got to an obsticle most had a bypass so if you did not feel comfortable you could bypass
them.. the rest were fun to try and I think anyone could make them with a good spotter.. and maybe a winch to assist you :)

All in All it was a Great time and if I have the free time I would love go to Camp Jeep again..

I did not get many trail pics due to me being a guide.. but here are the pics i did get.

This year was my first Camp Jeep and I would definitely recommend it(especially if you have kids). I left my XJ home and went with my g-f in her '07 4dr JK. The trails weren't hard at all but it's fun when she's driving a stocker on the Advanced trails. lol. We did A & B on Thursday and Friday and did all the other activities in between and outside of that. The Tim McGraw concert was okay and the eventhough I'm not a B-52's fan, they rocked. I'm more of a wheeler and really shy away from cheerleading events like this but I had a great time and plan on attending next year.

Ver cool picks. I went to Jeep Jamboree in Oak Ridge back in2005. It was the first time I had ever been offroading and 12 months later I bought my first Jeep.

Yup, and some more then once.

you should have been with us (harvin and I) Sat night after one of the rides, we were finding meal tickets for a bunch of guides. Did you get anything to eat?

ok here are some more numbers..

Number of trail rides...
6 trail times with 17 trails X 30 vehicles = 3060
5 trail times with 26 trails X 30 vehicles = 3900

Plus...
VIP run = 17
Secrets of Oak Ridge = 40
Jeep Engineers = 5

Total = 7022

A lot of the 7 am rides seemed very light. So let's guess around 6000 trail rides +/-.

More numbers:
There were 2850 Jeeps registered.
My guess would be between 100-200 broken Jeeps.
1 - Trail Guide whose Jeep rolled over onto the roof
2 - Participants whose Jeep flopped onto its side
2 - VIPs who made it to the top of the first set of rocks on the Quarry Trail (please note they did not own these vehicles)
1 - Fender flare on VIP vehicle that did NOT make it to the top of the first set of rocks on the Quarry Trail
1 - Inner fender on VIP vehicle that did NOT make it to the top of the first set of rocks on the Quarry Trail
1 - Number of VIP Trail Guide vehicles that climbed the first set of rocks on the Quarry Trail (2 attempted, 1 bypassed)
0 - Number of VIP Trail Guide vehicles that climbed the first set of rocks on the Quarry Trail that were not broken after said climb
41 - Number of FM communication radios that s**k
240 - Cans of orange marker paint purchased for painting lines in the staging area
4.125 - Miles of orange lines in the staging area
1 - number of Breathalyzer tests administered in front of 2000 Jeepers at the staging area
3 - number of people caught trying to sneak in on trails during Camp Jeep
1 - number of locals who spray paint "We Love You Tim" on the side of their Grand Cherokee and try to persuade Camp Jeep staging area staff to sneak them in to the concert
0 - number of locals who spray paint "We Love You Tim" on the side of their Grand Cherokee that were successful at sneaking in to the concert
